Neyin Ancient City presents Jurchen and Manchu culture
Neyin Ancient City is in the Chinan area (池南区) of Changbai Mountain and focuses on the Neyin tribe of the Jianzhou Jurchen and local Manchu culture. Local historical accounts say the upper reaches of the Toudao Songhua River (头道松花江) were once called the Neyin River (讷殷江). The Neyin tribe was one of the eight tribes of the Jianzhou Jurchen and took its name from its ancestral home along the Neyin River. The scenic area tells this story through its gate, folk-style buildings and Neyin Museum (讷殷博物馆). You can also visit the confluence of the Jinjiang River (锦江), Manjiang River (漫江) and Toudao Songhua River to see the area's geographic setting.
The river confluence is a natural landmark
The confluence of the Jinjiang River (锦江), Manjiang River (漫江) and Toudao Songhua River (头道松花江) is a natural feature near the ancient city. Follow on-site signs for the walking route, viewpoints and return time, and allow enough time to walk back along the open route.
Start at the Visitor Center for the day's arrangements
The scenic area has a Visitor Center where you can ask about that day's tickets, routes and accommodation services. Check which sites are open and when the scenic area closes before planning time for the museum, buildings and river confluence.

Choose your visit
Start with the gate and buildings among the trees
Begin with the city gate, wooden buildings in the forest and folk-style architecture. Notice how the exhibits present local customs, commercial life and the city's defenses. The buildings and displays focus on local history; visit the parts that interest you.
Visit the Neyin Museum for historical context
The Neyin Museum offers background on the Neyin group and local Manchu culture. If you want to see the museum before the river confluence, check its opening status and whether a guide is available when you arrive. After learning about the group in the museum, you can connect the historical story with the geography of the rivers outside.
Plan the river confluence separately from the museum
The confluence is an outdoor stop, while the museum is indoors. Check the scenic-area map for the walking direction and open areas before deciding whether to visit both. If a section is temporarily closed, use a route that remains open.
Build your day
Follow a route from the Visitor Center
Start at the Visitor Center to check the day's arrangements. Then visit the city gate and main buildings, the Neyin Museum, and the river confluence viewpoint before returning to the Visitor Center. This is a suggested order; follow on-site directions for the actual walking route and open sites.
Combine cultural and outdoor stops to suit your time
For a half-day visit, focus on the Neyin Museum and main buildings such as the city gate. If you have a full day, add the river confluence and return to the Visitor Center along open paths.
Allow time to return to the Visitor Center
Walking time between the museum, outdoor sites and river confluence affects your return plans. After your visit, return to the Visitor Center or an agreed pickup point. If you are continuing to a hot spring or another attraction, confirm your round-trip transport and the next stop's arrival time first.
Get there
Navigate to the Chinan Visitor Center
Set your destination to the Neyin Ancient City Visitor Center (讷殷古城景区游客集散中心). Before leaving, check that the map destination matches the entrance name on your booking so you do not stop at a nearby landmark with a similar name.
Arrange round-trip transport in advance
If travelling from Chixi, a resort or another town, arrange a ride with your accommodation or driver. Confirm the outbound and return trips, waiting location and fare, and check that the transfer is operating on your date.
Check road conditions if combining stops
Neyin Ancient City can be part of a multi-day trip around Chinan or Baishan. If you are also visiting Jinjiang Wooden House Village or a hot spring that day, check the route and estimated drive in your navigation app, and allow time for entry at the next stop.
Know before you go
Check the day's entry arrangements before buying a ticket
Before buying, check the conditions for adult and discounted tickets, whether you need a reservation, which areas are included and the last entry time that day. If you are buying a performance or activity, confirm its entry conditions and additional cost.
Do not plan around a past event as if it were daily
Performances and festival activities take place on announced dates and may not run every day. If you are travelling for a specific event, confirm its date, entry requirements, end time and transport back to your accommodation.
Do not take closed routes to reach a viewpoint
Use the day's signs for the river confluence, bridges, boardwalks and museum. If an area closes because of construction, weather or other temporary restrictions, visit sites that remain open or end your visit. Do not climb over barriers, walk through the water or look for an unofficial trail to a viewpoint.
