How to Visit
1

Treat Zhijin Cave as a half-day main stop

Zhijin Cave works best as a half-day attraction, with a normal visit taking about 2-3 hours. Budget CNY 110 for the daytime ticket, plus CNY 28 for the sightseeing bus and CNY 10 for the safety service package. Use 08:30-17:00 as the daytime reservation and entry window.

Tip:After entering the cave, you will basically need to follow the full route. There are many steps and wet surfaces, so take care of footwear and energy first.
2

Prepare layers and supplies before entering

The cave is much cooler than outside, with slippery ground and many steps. Even in summer, bring a light jacket and wear non-slip sports shoes. Prepare water and simple snacks before entering.

Tip:The cave is not a commercial street, and supplies inside are limited. Older visitors, children, or anyone with knee problems should pace themselves.
3

Focus on Guanghan Palace, Silver Rain Tree, and Bawang Helmet

The value of Zhijin Cave is its huge cave halls and karst formations, not just a few small photo spots. Guanghan Palace is for scale, while Silver Rain Tree and Bawang Helmet are the most memorable stalactite formations. Do not rush through the later section just because you are tired.

Tip:Lighting and crowds affect photos, so do not build the whole visit around photography. The walking experience matters more.
4

You can pair it with Zhijin Grand Canyon, but do not overpack the day

If you visit both Zhijin Cave and Zhijin Grand Canyon on the same day, arrive early and handle the more tiring part first, then adjust the order based on transport and weather. The two sites are close, but both require walking and transfers.

Tip:A same-day round trip from Guiyang is tight. Staying one night in Zhijin County is much more comfortable.
Highlights
  • Zhijin Cave is Bijie's most mature geological attraction and worth a dedicated stop.
  • Guanghan Palace gives first-time visitors a strong sense of the scale of China's large caves.
  • Silver Rain Tree and Bawang Helmet are the easiest landmark formations to remember.
  • The cave stays cool year-round, which is useful in summer, but wet steps require energy and caution.
  • Combined with Zhijin Grand Canyon, it creates a half-day to full-day route of underground cave and canyon landforms.
Insider Tips

Enter according to your reserved time slot; missing it can create problems.

Do not wear high heels, flip-flops, or shoes with slippery soles.

Avoid using flash constantly inside the cave, as it can flatten the rock and lighting layers.

If you also visit Zhijin Grand Canyon that day, do not walk too slowly inside Zhijin Cave; save energy for later.

On holidays, arriving early is more reliable for parking and queues.
