Choose your visit
Second floor: “Canghai Zhizhou” (沧海之州)
The history gallery follows a timeline of Cangzhou’s past and displays seven national first-class cultural relics. Look for a Northern Dynasties celadon dragon-handle ewer with applied decoration (北朝青釉堆贴花龙柄壶), a Western Han leopard-shaped weight inlaid with gold (西汉错金豹镇), and a Tang-dynasty white-marble crouching lion with a pedestal (唐代汉白玉带座蹲狮). Displays may change.
Third floor: martial arts, acrobatics and the canal
The “Home of Martial Arts” (武术之乡) and “Source of a Hundred Performances” (百戏之源) galleries introduce Cangzhou martial arts and acrobatics, alongside exhibits about the Grand Canal. Pair these with the second-floor history gallery for a visit that moves from the city’s past to its living traditions.
First-floor temporary shows and stamp station
The first floor has a temporary exhibition gallery, which works well either at the start or end of your visit. A free stamp station is beneath the screen on the right side of the first-floor lobby. The museum exterior is also a photo stop. Water and a gift shop are available inside; you can bring a water bottle.
Who will enjoy it
The museum suits visitors interested in Cangzhou’s history, martial arts and acrobatics. Families and visitors with limited time can focus on representative objects on the second floor and the cultural galleries on the third. If you want a guided tour, check the day’s public-tour schedule.
For another indoor stop focused on Grand Canal intangible heritage, see China Grand Canal Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition Hall.
For an outdoor visit to the historic park around the monument represented in the galleries, see Cangzhou Iron Lion and Old City Culture Park.
Build your day
A focused one-hour route
Enter on the first floor and go up to the Canghai Zhizhou history exhibition on the second floor for the main history gallery and its key objects. Then take a quick look at “Home of Martial Arts” and “Source of a Hundred Performances” on the third floor before following the exit signs. This route focuses on the two permanent exhibition floors.
A 1.5–2-hour full visit
Start with the temporary exhibition on the first floor, then follow the floors in order: the timeline-based history gallery on the second floor, followed by the martial arts, acrobatics and canal displays on the third. Return to the first floor for the stamp station or a drink before leaving. This sequence limits backtracking; adjust your time if you join a public tour.
Public tour times
Free public tours are commonly scheduled at 09:30 and 14:30. If you want to join one, plan around these times, then confirm the day’s schedule when you arrive.
