How to Visit
1

Enter via the Main Gate (正门)

Take Metro Line 2 to Yuexiu Park Station (越秀公园站), Exit B1. This is the most convenient entrance — the park entrance is steps from the metro exit.

The metro exit opens directly into the park — look for the ticket gate for the paid attractions
2

Walk to the Five Goat Statue

Head east from the main entrance to find the Five Goat Statue (五羊石像) — Guangzhou's official city emblem. The goats, each with a different expression, carry grain in their mouths, depicting the city's founding legend.

One of the most photographed spots in the park; go early morning to avoid crowds
3

Climb to Zhongshan Memorial Monument

The Zhongshan Memorial Monument (中山纪念碑) sits atop the hill — climb 428 steps for panoramic views of Guangzhou. The monument bears Sun Yat-sen's final testament inscription and 26 stone goat head carvings.

Steep climb; wear comfortable shoes. The view from the top is worth the effort
4

Visit Zhenhai Tower (Guangzhou Museum)

Descend and walk to Zhenhai Tower (镇海楼), also known as the Guangzhou Museum. This five-story red brick structure is one of Guangzhou's most recognizable landmarks, housing exhibits on the city's 2,000+ year history.

¥10 entry; student and senior discounts available. Opens 09:00–17:30, closed Monday
5

Walk the Ming Dynasty City Wall

Exit past the Ming Dynasty City Wall (明代古城墙) — one of Guangzhou's most ancient surviving walls. The wall stretches with ancient trees overhead, creating a peaceful atmosphere. Exit via the East Gate or Main Gate.

Best preservation section is between Zhenhai Tower and East Gate
Highlights
  • Five Goat Statue (五羊石像) — Guangzhou's city emblem, depicting the founding legend of the city
  • Zhenhai Tower (镇海楼/Guangzhou Museum) — 5-story red brick landmark, 'Six Strange Things of Guangzhou'
  • Zhongshan Memorial Monument — 428 steps to the top for sweeping city views
  • Ming Dynasty City Wall — one of Guangzhou's oldest surviving ancient walls
  • Ten Thousand Horses Monument (万马奔腾) — nine bronze horses with spectacular light effects

Recommended route (2 hours): West Gate → Five Goat Statue → Zhongshan Memorial Monument → Zhenhai Tower → Ming Dynasty City Wall → exit

Combine with nearby Light Rail Station food street for post-visit Cantonese snacks
