Treat the academy as a culture-and-wetland combination stop
Guiyang Confucian Academy is free. Use 09:00-17:00 as the opening window, with last entry at 16:30. It is best for its central-axis buildings, Confucian cultural setting, and nearby Shili River Beach wetland, not for a quick photo-only visit.
Take Metro Line 3 to Kongxuetang Station
From the city, Metro Line 3 to Kongxuetang Station is the easiest route, followed by a short walk. Buses also reach the area, but metro is better on holidays or event days.
Walk the central axis slowly
Follow the route from Lingxing Gate, Pan Bridge, Dacheng Gate, and Dacheng Hall, then add Yangming-related spaces, lecture halls, or exhibitions based on interest. Most visitors need 1.5-2 hours.
Put Shili River Beach into the same route
Huaxi National City Wetland Park Shili River Beach is next to the academy. After the visit, you can walk or cycle along the river. The combination makes a more complete half-day route.
✦Do not arrive close to 16:30. Cultural sites feel weak if you only have time for the exterior.
✦Lectures, exhibitions, and festival activities are not held every day, so do not rebuild your main itinerary around one possible event.
✦The building area has steps and open plazas; in summer, water and sun protection make the visit more comfortable.
✦With children, the academy plus Shili River Beach is easier than viewing buildings only.
✦Do not confuse this with a historic Confucian temple. It is more of a modern cultural landmark and learning space.
