Plan at a glance

Aihui town and the exhibition-hall entrance

Aihui Historical Exhibition Hall is on Sabusu Street in Aihui Town, Aihui District, Heihe. It is the main starting point for the town’s historical displays. Search for “Aihui Historical Exhibition Hall”, visit the hall first, and then decide whether to walk to Kuixing Pavilion, the historic-site stele, and the riverfront stops according to the time and areas open that day.

Free entry and seasonal hours

The hall describes admission as free. Its seasonal hours are 09:10–16:00 from 1 May to 15 October and 09:10–15:30 from 16 October to 30 April. Follow the hall’s notices issued that day for public holidays and temporary changes.

Choose your visit

Section Two: material related to the Treaty of Nerchinsk

The second section presents objects and early Heilongjiang history related to the Treaty of Nerchinsk, including shamanic artifacts, weapons, and horse gear. Visitors interested in the region’s early history can start here before moving on to the later changes in the border area.

Section Four: the Treaty of Aigun setting

The fourth section recreates the signing setting of the Treaty of Aigun through figures and stage design. Read the nearby panels first, then follow the exhibition route to understand the event’s historical context.

Section Five: the 1900 Russian tragedy panorama

The fifth section uses a panorama about 76 meters long, together with sound and light effects, to present the 1900 Russian tragedy in the region. The subject is heavy; families with children or visitors who prefer not to view intense war-history imagery can decide how much of it to watch.

Kuixing Pavilion and riverside historic sites

Kuixing Pavilion is walkable from the exhibition-hall square. The Aihui New Town historic-site stele, Aihui General’s statue, and former Aihui Customs site are additional outdoor stops. The town is centered on the hall and historic remains, with limited shops and dining.

Build your day

Quick hall visit and a riverside walk

Enter through the main gate and follow the exhibition sequence. If time is limited, focus on Section Four’s Treaty of Aigun setting and Section Five’s panorama; a quick hall visit takes about 1.5–2 hours. After the hall, you can walk to the river for a view across the water. Allow separate time for the outdoor walk and stay within the areas open that day.

Historic-town highlights: allow half a day

Visit the hall first, then walk to Kuixing Pavilion and the Aihui New Town historic-site stele. Continue along open streets to the Aihui General’s statue and former Aihui Customs site. Allow about 3–4 hours for the hall and the town highlights; the actual time depends on how long you spend in the galleries and walking outdoors. Return to the parking area or your pre-arranged pickup point along the open route.

Temporary changes and the return

If the hall is closed, a gallery is under maintenance, or the bus timetable does not fit, prioritize the outdoor sites that are open instead of arriving just before closing. Check the day’s signs before walking to the river, and confirm the return bus or pickup point in advance.

Get there

Driving and parking

From central Heihe, take G331 or the highway to Aihui; the drive takes about 30–40 minutes. Navigate to the exhibition hall’s main entrance, where free parking is available. Road conditions may change, so check the route before leaving and drive carefully.

Bus from Heihe

Buses to Aihui leave from Heihe International Highway Passenger Transport Station. The one-way fare is about RMB 15 and the ride takes about 1 hour. Return departures are not fixed; ask the driver about the return time and boarding point, and leave enough margin before the hall closes.

Know before you go

Foreign visitor identification and reservations

The hall has not published whether foreign passports can be used to collect tickets or whether real-name WeChat reservations accept foreign passports. Contact the hall before departure to ask whether a passport is accepted, whether a reservation is required, and whether WeChat or on-site registration is available. Follow the hall’s notices for public holidays and temporary arrangements.

Stairs, exhibit intensity, and rest

The visit route is long and ends with a fairly long flight of steps, so wear comfortable shoes and save energy for the stairs. Section Five covers heavy historical material. Photography inside the hall follows the on-site rules.

Riverside insects and photography

Small flying insects are common by the river in summer and autumn, so bring repellent. Kuixing Pavilion can be photographed from the river or the exhibition-hall square. Walk to the General’s statue and former customs site only within the open areas, and follow the signs when taking photos.

Food and expectations

Dining choices in the town are limited. Ask whether Zhao Hua Home Cooking is open that day or return to central Heihe for a meal. Plan Aihui as a museum and historic-remains visit with walking, rather than as a commercial old-town shopping stop.
