The Heilongjiang basin and local history
The exhibitions cover Heihe’s natural resources, history and culture, and economic and social development. Visitors interested in geography can start with the natural-resource displays; those interested in local history can make the historical and cultural galleries their priority. The social-development displays add context about the area’s modern changes. After entering, look at the day’s gallery guide and choose among the galleries that are open.
Artefacts and temporary exhibitions
The collection includes a Liao-dynasty gilt-copper Guanyin head, a Ming-dynasty double-eared jade cup with bosses, a wooden seal from the Hailanpao Telegraph Bureau from the late Qing period, a share certificate from the Qiai Automobile Company dated to the first year of the Republic of China, an Oroqen moose-hide shaman costume, and a 1939 iron cooking pot associated with the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. The telegraph seal and company share certificate help explain Heihe’s modern urban development, while the Oroqen clothing and resistance-era objects add regional cultural and historical context. Whether any item is on display depends on the cases and labels in the museum that day.
Who will enjoy it
This is a good choice for visitors interested in Heihe’s local history and the culture of the Heilongjiang basin. If your time is limited, start with the key galleries open on the day of your visit.
Build your day
Check the gallery guide first
Navigate to 241 Hailan Street and follow the entrance signs. Start with the day’s gallery guide, then choose displays on natural resources, local history and culture, or social development. If a case catches your interest, stop to read its label; continue along the internal signs and leave through the marked exit. A full visit can take 2–3 hours, depending on the open galleries and how long you spend reading.
Adjust the order to your interests
On a first visit, start with the local-history exhibition that interests you most, then leave time for the other galleries. If a temporary exhibition is open, adjust the order to its hours that day. Ask staff after entering about guided tours, languages, and available time slots.
