A dispersed rural landscape
Shangping Peach Blossom Mountain is in Shangping Town, Lianping County, Heyuan, with Xiaoshui and Zhongcun as the main areas. Common arrival points include the Shangping Peach Blossom Visitor Centre, Xiaoshui Peach Blossom Valley and orchard roads around Zhongcun; this is not one enclosed flower park with a single ticket and gate.
Most areas are free, while private orchards or photography bases may charge about CNY 5–20 per person. There is no unified reservation system. The area can be visited throughout the day, but plan the main activities between 08:00 and 17:00 and allow time for narrow roads, parking and walking.
Seasons and visit length
Peach blossom season usually falls from mid-February to mid-March and lasts about 20 days; eagle-beak peach picking is a seasonal activity around July. A relaxed flower visit takes about 2–3 hours, photography and village stops about four hours, while the Guangdong–Jiangxi Ancient Trail covers about 13–15 kilometres and has a different outdoor difficulty.

Peach groves, rocks and mountain scenery
The main appeal is the combination of dispersed peach groves, pale rocks and rural mountain scenery, all of which change with the flowering season, weather and orchard access. It suits spring flower visits, rural photography and self-driving travellers, but the hillsides should not be treated as fixed viewpoints within one managed park.
Xiaoshui Village’s covered bridge
Xiaoshui Village has a Qing-era brick-and-wood covered bridge, with the bridge, stream and surrounding peach trees forming a distinctive local photo setting. Traditional-style photography and family visitors can make it an easy stop, but keep the bridge and village lanes clear for residents.
Who it suits
Shangping suits seasonal flower visitors, photographers, families on a spring outing and experienced hikers. Blossoms, fruit picking and private-orchard fees are all conditional, so confirm the flowers or orchard arrangements before travelling rather than assuming that a February–March flower scene or July picking is available every year.
Build your day
A 2–3 hour relaxed flower visit
Start from the Visitor Centre or Xiaoshui Village, follow the peach-valley path to the mid-slope viewpoint and covered bridge, then return to the parking area. Allow about 2–3 hours; this suits visitors with limited time or older companions, and there is no need to keep climbing if the flowers are not at their best.
A roughly four-hour photography visit
Zhongcun’s old peach trees, Xiaoshui Shanshi Taoyuan and any photography base that is open that day can form a fuller half-day. Private orchards may charge separately, so confirm the fee and permitted photography areas before entering; because village roads are narrow, park and walk rather than driving to every viewpoint.
The Guangdong–Jiangxi Ancient Trail
The ancient trail crosses from Shangping in Lianping, Guangdong, towards Niumian Village in Jiangxi and covers about 13–15 kilometres. It suits experienced outdoor visitors with sufficient supplies and a return plan; confirm the weather, route access, water and transport before setting out.
Get there
Driving and parking
Driving from the Pearl River Delta to Shangping Town takes about 2.5–3 hours. After entering the villages, most roads are single-lane concrete roads where passing is difficult; arrive early on weekends and park near a village entrance or around Zhongcun Fruit Wholesale Market before walking in.
Public transport
You can travel by high-speed rail to Heyuan Station or Longchuan West Railway Station and then transfer by local bus or taxi, but the peach-growing areas are spread out and public transport is inconvenient. Without a car, arrange village transfers in advance rather than looking for a vehicle after arrival.
Know before you go
Blossoms, orchards and weather
The blossom season is short and varies with the year’s weather; by mid-to-late March some trees may already have small peaches, while July picking also depends on the orchard. Cloud sea, sunrise and a particular flower colour are weather-dependent, so treat the area as a seasonal rural landscape rather than a standardised flower park.
Orchards and photography bases may charge different fees. Ask before entering if the price or access changes, and bring water, snacks and a rubbish bag because toilets, bins and supplies are scarce on the hills.
Roads and walking
The village roads are narrow, and some sections have drainage construction and become slippery after rain. Wear non-slip shoes and drive slowly when passing; do not stop at an orchard entrance or block a local road for photographs.
Local meals may include Hakka stuffed tofu, glutinous rice cakes, chicken with dried bamboo shoots and river snails. Farm restaurants change with the season, so confirm opening and prices before making one the reason for a longer detour.
