Plan at a glance

Location, entrances and opening pattern

Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platform is on Dashingshan. Navigate to “Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platform” or “Sea Turtle Bay P6 Parking Lot”. P6 is closest to the climb and costs around CNY 5 per visit, but spaces are limited. P7 and P8 are at the foot of the hill, with more spaces but a longer walk or motorcycle ride uphill.

The platform is free, requires no reservation and is accessible throughout the day. Arrive about one hour before sunrise or sunset for the best light. Mountain-road controls are possible on weekends and public holidays.

Choose your visit

Around one hour: quick route

P6 Parking Lot → walk or take a motorcycle uphill → viewing platform → return the same way. The climb takes around 20–40 minutes. Arriving after 16:00 avoids the midday sun and allows time for sunset.

Two-day coastal route

Day one: viewing-platform sunset → Sea Turtle Bay cliff walk → Lovers’ Causeway. Day two: sunrise at Honghai Bay → seafood at Gangkou Market → return. This suits first-time visitors who want both the twin-bay panorama and coastal walking.

E-bike coastal route

Rent an e-bike → park below the viewing platform and walk uphill → Sea Turtle Bay → Lovers’ Causeway → coastal road. This avoids some mountain-road restrictions and weekend congestion.

Build your day

Climb and panorama route

P6 Parking Lot → hill path or motorcycle → platform railing at the centre → descent. The central railing is useful for the full twin-bay view, while trees on the uphill path and the sunset village below work well for people photographs.

Sea Turtle Bay connection

Viewing Platform → Sea Turtle Bay → Lovers’ Causeway. First see the bay structure from above, then move to the cliff walk for closer sea views, finishing with sunset on the causeway.

Sunrise or sunset option

Sunrise is around 6:00, while sunset is generally around 17:30–18:30. For either option, leave enough time for the uphill approach rather than arriving once the light has already gone.

Get there

High-speed rail and local transport

Taxis from Huidong Station or Huidongnan Station take about 30–40 minutes and cost around CNY 80–100. E-bike rentals in town are about CNY 50–80 per day and work well for an independent coastal route.

Driving

Use Sea Turtle Bay P6 Parking Lot where possible. If it is restricted during busy periods, park at P7/P8 and continue on foot or by local transport. On weekends, try driving uphill before 9:00 or after 14:00, or use an e-bike instead.

Know before you go

Motorcycles, drones and toilets

If you use a motorcycle from the foot of the hill, agree a return price before departure. Do not fly drones near the summit. Use toilets at the foot of the hill or Sea Turtle Bay Visitor Centre before climbing, as summit facilities may be closed for maintenance.

Sun and descent

The hill is exposed to sun and mosquitoes, so bring sunscreen, a hat and insect repellent. Do not use unmarked “shortcuts”; descend by the original route or a clearly established path to avoid ending up far from your parking point.
