Location, ticket options and opening hours
Xiangxi Castle is in Gongwu Village, Longhua Town, Longmen County. The ticket-office pier is the bamboo-raft departure point, while Gongwu Village’s main street is the walking entrance to the old village. A bamboo-raft-and-castle ticket costs about CNY 90, while castle-only entry costs CNY 20.
The area is generally open from 9:00 to 18:00. Bamboo rafts run on fixed departures, so complete the visit before 16:00; some historic buildings begin closing around 16:30. No advance reservation is required.

2–3 hours: easy route
Ticket-office pier → 30–40 minute bamboo-raft ride → Gongwu Village main street → Wuzhai Castle → bamboo “ding-ding” vehicle back to the car park. This is the best first-visit route for combining the water experience and historic village buildings.
4–5 hours: walking route
Xiangxi Castle Pier → Xiangxi River path → bamboo-grove maze → 600-year-old Dragon Head Tree → Gongwu Village old houses → stone-paved lanes. The route is mostly level and suits a slower walk, heritage photography and rural scenery.
Two-day connection
On day one, visit Xiangxi Castle by raft and explore the old fort, then stay near Nankunshan hot springs. On day two, continue to Nankunshan Forest Park for Chuanlong Waterfall and Shihe Wonder before returning. This is more relaxed than forcing both areas into one day.

Ticket-office pier → bamboo raft → Gongwu Village main street → Wuzhai Castle → bamboo vehicle. Take the fixed water ride first, then explore the village at a slower pace.
Deep walking route
Pier → riverside path → bamboo maze → Dragon Head Tree → old residences → stone lanes. The route is not about elevation gain, but allow time for photographs, breaks and the walk back.
Castle and heritage focus
Wuzhai Castle, Xingchun Study Hall and the Gongwu Village main street are the key architectural stops. Visitors who only want photographs can walk the old street first and decide later whether to pay for the castle rather than buying the combined ticket automatically.
Get there
Driving
The drive from Guangzhou or Shenzhen takes about 1.5–2 hours. Navigate to Xiangxi Castle Tourism Area; the attraction has a large free car park. Driving or ride-sharing is the most practical way to coordinate the raft schedule, village visit and Nankunshan extension.
Public transport
From Huizhou North Station, a taxi takes around 30 minutes. From Huizhou or Longmen County, travel first to Shajing Town, then take a taxi for around 10 minutes. The transfers make public transport better for visitors without a tight schedule.
Know before you go
Building closure and return transport
Historic buildings may begin closing after 16:00, so visit them in the morning or around midday. Gongwu Village is nearly two kilometres from the ticket office, so watch for the bamboo vehicle after the village visit; missing it can mean walking back to the car park.
Sun, mosquitoes and supplies
Riverside and bamboo-grove areas have mosquitoes, so bring sun protection, insect repellent, long sleeves and non-slip shoes. Supplies are limited, so carry water and snacks. Light is softer for historic buildings around 9:00–11:00, while 15:00–17:00 is well suited to the bamboo raft and river views.
