Plan at a glance
Cultural attraction beside a grassland highway
The scenic area is at Cuogang Pasture (嵯岗牧场) in New Barag Left Banner, near the G301 highway’s 1,494 km marker. It is about 36 km from Manzhouli; search for “巴尔虎蒙古部落” (Barhu Mongolian Tribe). Grassland scenery, Mongolian cultural experiences, and the “Dance of the Horses” (《马之舞》) equestrian show are in one place, making it a possible half-day stop on a self-drive trip.
Check performances and daytime activities separately
“Dance of the Horses” is often the main reason to visit, but its season, showtimes, and whether the ticket includes scenic-area admission can change. Cultural activities, food, and yurt stays may also be charged separately. Before making a special trip, confirm what is open that day, the performance time, and ticket options with the scenic area or an authorized ticket seller.

Choose your visit
Watch the “Dance of the Horses” equestrian show
“Dance of the Horses” (《马之舞》) centers on Mongolian horsemanship. The official program description includes horse catching, racing, Bökh wrestling, and dancing with horses, as well as picking objects up from horseback, vaulting, mounted archery, handstands, and balance skills. The program and duration depend on that day’s performance. Watch from your assigned seat; do not enter the arena or horse lanes to take photos.
Learn about Barhu culture
“Barhu” in the scenic area’s name refers to the local Mongolian community and grassland culture. If open that day, look for folk dance, traditional clothing, and interactive activities. Ask staff whether archery, feeding small animals, and grassland games are operating and whether they cost extra.
Grassland stands and yurts
The horn-shaped entrance gate, equestrian stands, and yurt-style buildings are photo spots for the grassland theme. A yurt stay or evening activity suits visitors planning to stay overnight. In the off-season, check the room type, heating, bathing facilities, meals, and bonfire arrangements one by one.
Build your day
Half-day show visit, about 3–5 hours
Confirm the showtime and ticket type before driving from Manzhouli. If a performance is scheduled that day, arrive 30–60 minutes early to collect tickets and take your seat. After “Dance of the Horses,” choose one or two cultural activities if that area is still open. Return to the parking area to leave; adjust the visit to the day’s program and queues.
A full day of cultural activities
If you want daytime activities and an overnight stay, first ask whether lodging is available and whether evening activities will take place. Then plan the daytime show and cultural activities. After the evening program, return directly to confirmed lodging; do not treat nearby shorelines, pasture, or sunset viewpoints as extensions of the scenic area.
Get there
Drive to the G301 highway’s 1,494 km marker
The scenic area is about 36 km from Manzhouli, or roughly a 40-minute drive according to navigation; road conditions affect the actual time. Search for “巴尔虎蒙古部落” (Barhu Mongolian Tribe) or “嵯岗牧场,G301 1494 公里处” (Cuogang Pasture, G301 1,494 km marker). Follow scenic-area signs for parking on arrival; confirm on site whether parking is free and spaces are available.
Hired car or public transport
A regular direct bus service has not been confirmed. If hiring a car, agree on pickup and return times and locations in advance. If using public transport, ask the banner’s transport service about the outbound trip, last service, and return connection; do not rely on finding a car on demand.
Know before you go
Confirm show dates and ticket combinations
Opening periods and performances vary by season. Some pages list autumn show dates that have already passed, which does not confirm that performances are currently running. Before setting out, contact the scenic area to confirm opening, whether “Dance of the Horses” is scheduled, how admission and show tickets relate, and where to buy authorized tickets. Do not pay based on a driver’s verbal discount or an old price.
Activities, food, and lodging may cost extra
Ask separately whether lamb feeding, archery, grassland games, meals, and yurt lodging are open, and confirm each price and what it includes before participating. Restaurant menus and hours are not consistent, so bring water and a light meal from Manzhouli or New Barag Left Banner if needed.
Check room conditions before staying overnight
Before booking a yurt, confirm the room type, heating, bathing facilities, meals, and nighttime activities. Compare staying here with returning to Manzhouli. Bonfires and evening shows may vary by season; ask about activity times, the walk back afterward, and check-in hours before booking.
Prepare for grassland weather and follow on-site safety rules
The grassland has strong sun and changing winds. Bring sun protection and a windproof jacket, and keep children on designated paths and in the stands. Follow staff instructions during equestrian shows, archery, and animal interactions. If you do not want to watch the animal performance, choose another activity that is open that day or skip the visit.
