Kaiping Nanlou Memorial Park is in Tengjiao Village, Chikan Town. It is a historical memorial site centred on Nanlou, memorial facilities for the Seven Martyrs and the Tan River waterfront. Entry is free and no reservation is required.
Nanlou’s interior is open from 09:00–17:00; enter before 16:30. The outdoor park can be visited throughout the day. Allow 1–2 hours and visit at a calm, respectful pace.

A short memorial visit or a Chikan history route
With limited time, allow around one hour for the entrance archway, Nanlou’s exterior, the Seven Martyrs memorial and the riverfront. Travellers who want more historical context should allow around two hours for the memorial hall, Nanlou’s interior, the viewing level and a walk by the old Tan River ferry crossing.
For a fuller Chikan history route, visit Nanlou Memorial Park and the former residence of Situ Meitang in the morning, then continue to Chikan Overseas Chinese Ancient Town in the afternoon and evening.

Memorial, tower and river setting
Enter through the main gate and begin with the memorial and Nanlou’s exterior, noting the bullet marks and firing openings in the walls. Continue into the memorial hall or interior displays to learn about the Seven Martyrs, then climb the building for views of the Tan River bend and surrounding villages.
After coming down, walk around the old ferry-crossing area by the Tan River, then return through the memorial area. This sequence gives the historical context first, followed by the building itself and its strategic riverside setting.

Best reached by car or taxi
Driving is the easiest option; navigate to “Kaiping Nanlou”. Free parking is available near the entrance. From Kaiping South Railway Station, a taxi ride normally takes around 20–30 minutes.
By public transport, first reach Chikan Town, then continue on foot or by taxi. Nanlou is a short drive from Chikan Overseas Chinese Ancient Town, so the two can be visited on the same day, but schedule the tower visit within its interior opening hours.
Know before you go
A respectful and practical visit
Nanlou is both a memorial space and the place where martyrs died. Keep your visit quiet and respectful, avoid noisy gatherings, and do not climb areas that are not open to visitors. The interior stairs are steep, so take care and assist children or older travellers where needed.
Mosquitoes can be common by the river and under the banyan trees, so bring repellent. Nearby toilets and food options are limited, so prepare before arriving.
