Choose your visit

Quick museum visit or a city route

For a short visit, see the temple’s red walls, green tiles and Dacheng Hall, then visit the gallery to see Wooden Beauty. Allow around one hour.

For a fuller first visit, add the Xinhui history exhibition, donated collections and Shiyuan Park. Continue on foot to Xinhui People’s Hall and Jingtang Library for a half-day city route.

Build your day

Temple architecture before galleries

Start with the Confucian Temple buildings and Dacheng Hall, then move to the exhibition galleries for Wooden Beauty and other key objects. End with a quieter walk through Shiyuan Park.

If you plan to continue through the city, visit the indoor galleries during the brightest or hottest part of the day, then walk to People’s Hall and Jingtang Library afterwards.

Get there

Practical city-centre arrival

Drive to Xinhui Yingbin Hotel Car Park or People’s Stadium Underground Car Park, which usually have more spaces than the temple entrance. From Xinhui Railway Station, a taxi ride takes around 10–15 minutes.

Local buses stop near Xuegong Station or People’s Hall Station. If the main temple gate is under maintenance, follow on-site directions to the side entrance.

Know before you go

Opening days and nearby walking

The museum is closed on Mondays. Confirm public-holiday arrangements in advance. Parking directly outside can fill quickly, especially on weekends.

Shiyuan Park and other green areas can have mosquitoes, so bring repellent and wear comfortable walking shoes.
