Skiing in winter
Beidahu Ski Resort is in Wulihe Town, Yongji County, about 53 km from central Jilin City. It focuses on alpine skiing and snow activities, with an equipment hall, lifts, magic carpets, hotels and dining. You can spend a full day skiing or stay at one of the resort hotels for a multi-day ski trip.
The resort's size and open areas change by ski season. An official update for the 2025–2026 season reported 74 open runs, 13 lifts and 7 magic carpets. Check the trail map and lift notices on the day for the number actually open.
Ski passes and equipment rental
Ski passes vary by date, time period and included activity. Day and night sessions, and whether equipment is included, may have different ticket types. Before buying, check the valid dates, lifts covered, rental equipment and change or refund terms. Prices depend on the current season's ticket page.

Practice areas for beginners
The resort's official trail list classifies H16 Muxue Run and Star Avenue as beginner runs. H16 is about 358 m long and Star Avenue about 2.28 km. If this is your first time skiing, start in a lesson area or on a magic carpet to practise stopping, turning and using the lift. Choose a run based on your instructor's advice and the day's open trails.
Although Star Avenue is classified as a beginner run, it is relatively long. If you are new to skiing, stay in the practice area until you can control your speed, then consider the longer run and follow your instructor's route advice.
Runs for more experienced skiers
H10 Zhui Feng Avenue is about 3 km long and classified by the resort as an intermediate run. H6 Gangliang Run is also classified as intermediate. Skiers who can turn consistently and control their speed can consider these longer runs, depending on snow conditions and the open-trail map.
D9 is classed as upper-intermediate and D12 as advanced; these are for skiers with the relevant experience. Lifts and runs may open by zone, so check how the routes connect and which direction leads back before choosing a run.
For a separate mountain resort with seasonal sightseeing as well as winter skiing, see China Travel Songhua Lake Resort.
Build your day
A first day of skiing
At the equipment hall, confirm your ski pass, rental and equipment sizes. Start with a lesson or practise on a magic carpet. Once you can stop and turn consistently, try a short beginner run that is open that day. Consider Star Avenue only after you are comfortable getting on and off the lifts and controlling your speed over a longer descent.
Before moving to a longer or steeper run, reassess snow conditions and your energy. After a lunch break, use the trail map to choose another practice area or finish early. Allow time to return rental equipment and travel back.
A route for experienced visitors
After entering, check the day's trail map and lift schedule before choosing a ski area. You can warm up on an intermediate run, then move to a longer route if conditions and your control remain steady. Choose high-difficulty runs such as D9 or D12 according to your ability and that day's openings.
Use the resort's difficulty ratings, open-trail map and your own ability to choose runs; move between areas only on open connecting routes. Head back to the equipment hall before the end of your session. Do not leave a distant run for your final descent.
Get there
From Jilin City or the airport
The resort is about 53 km from central Jilin City and about 126 km from Changchun Longjia International Airport. Ski shuttles or direct buses have operated from Jilin Railway Station and Longjia Airport in past ski seasons. These are seasonal services; confirm the current season's operating dates, stops and return trips with the operator before setting out.
If driving, navigate to “北大湖滑雪度假区.” Parking is available; check the current-season notice or on-site signs for fees. Roads may be icy in winter, so allow extra time for road conditions and parking.
Know before you go
Opening dates and the daily trail map
Ski-season dates depend on weather and snowmaking progress. The most recent complete season ran from October 25, 2025 to April 6, 2026; check the official notice for the next season's dates. Before buying, check the opening date. On the day, confirm which runs and lifts are open and the day or night session hours.
Equipment and skiing safety
When renting skis, boots and bindings, check their condition, size and fit in person. Confirm whether a helmet and other protective gear are included on your ticket or rental form. Wear protective equipment and follow instructions from instructors and resort staff.
A trail's difficulty rating is a classification of the run, not a recommendation for every skier. If visibility drops, the snow becomes icy or you feel tired, switch to an open, easier area or stop skiing. Stay off closed runs and non-public mountain paths.
Accommodation and dining
The resort website lists accommodation options such as Club Med, Holiday Inn and Hotel Indigo. When booking, confirm the room type, shuttle arrangements and what is included in any hotel-and-ski package. The equipment hall and resort have dining facilities. Wulihe Town also has restaurants; if you leave the resort to eat, arrange transport and a return trip in advance.
