Entrance and visit area

Songhua Lake Scenic Area is in Fengman District, Jilin City. Its main experiences are lake cruises and walking on an island. For navigation, search for “吉林松花湖风景名胜区” or the scenic-area ticket office. China Travel Songhua Lake Resort is up in the mountains and is a separate destination for views and skiing.

The ticket office is about 1.5 km from Badong Pier. You can walk or take the small train inside the scenic area. Boats to the islands depart from Badong Pier. Before buying a ticket, check whether your selected route includes a stop on an island and which island it visits.

Tickets and operating season

The reference admission price is CNY 10. A package that includes a visit to Wolongtan Island starts at CNY 133. Check which parts are included in the selected product; admission, boat tickets and island activities may be priced separately. The available ticket information says no separate reservation is required and that online tickets can be scanned at the entrance. The scenic area's website lists its mini-program, Meituan and Ctrip as booking channels; check the price for your travel date.

The reference visit season is April 20 to October 20, with reference hours of 06:00–18:00. Opening dates, cruise routes and island access can change each year, so check the day's ticket and route information before setting out.

Choose your visit

Lake views and Fengman Dam

The loop cruise without disembarking takes about 50 minutes. It suits visitors who want to see the lake and islands, have limited time or do not plan to hike. Near the dam, you can view Fengman Hydropower Station Dam from the water.

Views of the lake and islands depend on the weather. The dam and the interior of the hydropower facilities are not part of the cruise visit; stay within the scenic area's open water and public areas for viewing.

Wolongtan Island

The Wolongtan route combines a boat trip with walking on the island. Wooden boardwalks and stone steps lead to Xiansong Peak and Juxian Pavilion, with views over the lake's coves. Xianluoyue, Xianren Cave and Jieyuan Pavilion are also along the route.

This route is for visitors comfortable with a longer boat ride and steps. Allow about 1–1.5 hours for the island climb. If someone in your group cannot manage the stone steps, choose the loop cruise without getting off the boat.

Build your day

Short loop cruise without disembarking

Go from the main entrance to Badong Pier, either on foot for about 1.5 km or by the small train inside the scenic area. Take the sightseeing boat for a loop of about 50 minutes, then return to the pier on the boat route. Allow about 3–4 hours in total. The small train's reference fare is CNY 10.

When buying your ticket, confirm that the route returns to Badong Pier, and include the walk or shuttle to and from the pier and any time waiting to board. This route does not include a walk on an island.

Longer Wolongtan Island route

From the main entrance, go to Badong Pier and take a boat to Wolongtan; the one-way trip takes about 1.5 hours. On the island, follow the boardwalks and stone steps past Xianluoyue and Xianren Cave to Xiansong Peak and Juxian Pavilion, then return to the pier for the boat back.

The round-trip boat journey takes about 3 hours, and the island climb takes about 1–1.5 hours. The ticket office is about 1.5 km from Badong Pier, one way. Also allow time for the pier transfer, boarding queues, waiting and rest stops on the island. Set aside about 5–6 hours, or more than half a day. Before boarding, confirm how long you may stay on the island and which boats go to Wolongtan and back to Badong Pier.

Get there

By bus from Jilin Railway Station

From the east plaza of Jilin Railway Station, take bus 333 to its terminal, “Fengman Songhua Lake” (丰满松花湖), then walk to the ticket office. The scenic-area website also lists bus 33 to “Fengman Bridge” (丰满桥), followed by a walk of about 1.2 km. Check the route and service on your travel date.

By car and onward to the pier

If driving, navigate to “吉林松花湖风景名胜区.” Park at the scenic area and walk to the ticket office. The ticket office is about 1.5 km from Badong Pier; plan to walk or take the small train and allow enough time to reach the boat.

Know before you go

Boat times, return trips and supplies

The Wolongtan route involves about 3 hours on the boat round trip. Before going to the island, confirm the day's return departures and the last boat, and follow the time shown on your ticket or posted at the pier. Some smaller boats may not have a restroom. Use the facilities at the pier before a long ride, and bring drinking water and a simple snack.

Steps, wet paths and safety

Wooden boardwalks and stone steps can be slippery after rain; wear shoes with good grip. The island climb takes about 1–1.5 hours and includes steps. No information is available about access for wheelchairs or strollers.

Stay on open scenic-area paths and ticketed boat routes. Do not enter closed mountain paths or hydropower-facility areas, and do not climb closed towers. View the dam and hydropower facilities only from public viewing areas.

Food after your visit

Li Jia Fish Restaurant near Badong can be an option after leaving the scenic area. Qingling Town has a live-fish food street that may suit visitors driving, but it requires separate transport planning.
