Plan at a glance
Forest trails and mountain views
Zhuqueshan National Forest Park is at the 10-km marker on Jifeng East Road, in Mengjia Village, Fengman District, Jilin City. You can hike the mountain trails or take the park sightseeing vehicle up the scenic road. These options follow different routes and stop at different places, so choose from the day's trail map first.
The hiking route suits visitors who walk regularly and are comfortable with steps and uneven mountain paths. If you have knee problems, are traveling with young children or want an easier way to see the mountain, ask which stops the sightseeing vehicle serves that day.
Tickets and opening hours
The official website lists day tickets for adults, seniors and children, as well as tickets for the small sightseeing vehicle. Check the price for your date, eligibility documents for discounts and reservation rules before going.
As of October 13, 2026, the park was operating on winter hours, 09:00–17:00, with ticket sales and vehicle entry stopping at 15:00. This schedule came from an October 7 notice; check for the latest update before your visit.

Sightseeing vehicle and summit viewpoint
The sightseeing vehicle follows the scenic road up to the area near Zhuque Yunding (朱雀云顶), also known as Xiaomanyao (小蛮腰). A 2024 description of the route listed stops such as Xinglian Lover's Valley and the azalea flower fields. A short boardwalk connects the final vehicle stop with the viewing area. Check the day's map and ask staff where the vehicle stops and how the walking connection works.
This option involves less walking than the long hiking trails and suits visitors with limited time or those who prefer to see the scenery by vehicle. Stops and ticket availability can change; when buying, check whether the ticket covers the return trip and which stops are included.
Hiking trails and the summit
The hiking route starts on foot at the main gate and climbs uphill along stone steps and mountain paths. It involves sustained walking over uneven ground; check which sections are open that day.
Some sections have steep steps and uneven rocks. They suit hikers with experience and shoes with good grip. The hiking trail and the sightseeing vehicle's last stop are not the same route. If you want to combine them, ask the park first whether a connecting path is open.
Build your day
Half-day sightseeing-vehicle route
After entering, check the trail map and that day's vehicle stops at the visitor center. Take the vehicle up along the open route, stop at viewpoints and near Zhuque Yunding, then return as allowed by your ticket. If you plan to walk to the Xiaomanyao viewpoint, first confirm that the connecting path is open. Allow half a day for queues, viewing stops and the return downhill.
Whether you can walk from a vehicle stop to the Xiaomanyao viewing area depends on the day's map, trail access and staff instructions. Follow the ticket rules for return trips and stops.
Hiking route
Before entering, check the day's last ticket-sale and entry times. Enter through the main gate and follow an open hiking trail uphill; at junctions, use the trail signs to choose your route. Stop for views, water and rest along the way, then descend on a park-designated trail and allow enough time to return to the main gate.
Before setting out, confirm which trails are open and the descent direction. Allow about 3–5 hours for the full hike; the actual time depends on open sections, rest stops and your pace. If the weather or trail surface is unsuitable for hiking, choose the sightseeing-vehicle route.
Get there
By bus
The address is the 10-km marker on Jifeng East Road, Mengjia Village, Fengman District, Jilin City. A tourist bus 333 from the east plaza of Jilin Railway Station previously ran toward Songhua Lake and passed Zhuqueshan. Before boarding, ask Jilin Public Transport Group whether it is running that day, and confirm its stops, fare and departure times.
By car and return transport
If driving, navigate to “朱雀山国家森林公园山门.” Parking fees and spaces at the park and nearby lots depend on on-site information. Allow extra time for arrival and departure on holidays, and arrange your ride back after the hike.

Winter hours and night activities
A park notice dated October 7, 2026 stated that from October 8 the park would open 09:00–17:00, with ticket sales and vehicle entry stopping at 15:00. Sunrise and sunset activities, light shows and performances associated with night hiking were suspended. The sunrise sightseeing vehicle was scheduled to run from October 8 through 31, then pause from 08:00 on November 1; check a new notice for its return.
Night activities and sightseeing-vehicle service change by season. While night visits are paused, plan for daytime opening hours. If there is rain, snow, ice or a temporary closure notice, wait until the park confirms it has reopened before setting out.
Grip, water and food
The mountain has stone steps and slopes that can become slippery after rain. Wear shoes with good grip and bring water. Mountain winds and temperatures can change; dress for the forecast. Stay on open trails, away from cliffs, steep slopes and waterways, and do not enter closed paths.
Farm-style restaurants are near the main gate and can be an option after your hike. Check their hours before setting out and arrange your return ride.
