Plan at a glance

Lakes, hillside paths and temples

Beishan Park is on Desheng Road in Chuanying District, Jilin City. The main park is free to enter. At the foot of the hill are Lotus Lake and Wobo Bridge. Paths uphill lead to the Beishan temple complex and Lanyue Pavilion, making this a place for a walk, traditional architecture and views over the city.

The park's public paths, temple courtyards and lake activities are managed separately. Temples, boat rides and amusement facilities may charge separate fees; check the day's open areas and ticket notices before visiting.

How much time to allow

Allow about 1–2 hours for a lakeside walk and the bridge. If you want to climb East Peak, visit the temples and continue to Lanyue Pavilion, set aside 3–4 hours. The uphill and downhill paths have steps and slopes, so wear comfortable walking shoes.

Choose your visit

Beishan temple complex

East Peak has Guandi Temple, Yaowang Temple, Kanli Palace and the Jade Emperor Pavilion, which you can visit on foot along the hillside. Local gazetteer records date Guandi Temple to the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty and say Yaowang Temple was first built in the third year of the Qianlong reign. Check on-site interpretation for the dates and which halls are open.

If you are interested in local history and traditional architecture, take time to look at the courtyards, halls and gate layout. Follow visitor etiquette and photography rules inside the temples, and do not touch objects in the halls.

Lotus Lake and Lanyue Pavilion

Lotus Lake and Wobo Bridge make an easy lakeside walk. The views change with the lotus season in summer. Whether boating is available, and its ticket and equipment rules, depend on the day's notice.

Visitors willing to climb can continue to East Peak and the area around Lanyue Pavilion for views toward central Jilin City and the Songhua River. Weather, tree cover and open areas affect the view.

For a separate walk along Jilin City's riverside paths, see Songhua Riverfront (Jilin City).

Build your day

Short lakeside walk

Enter the park from the Desheng Road side. Walk across Wobo Bridge and around Lotus Lake, then follow the main path to a rest area at the foot of the hill and return. Allow about 1–2 hours for the lakeside walk, photos and a break. If boating is open, add time for the queue and ride.

This route has fewer steps and suits visitors looking for a short walk in the city or not planning to climb. During temple fairs or holiday events, check crowd conditions and any temporary access controls first.

Half-day climb and temple visit

From the entrance, follow the lakeside path uphill and use open trail signs to reach the East Peak temples: Guandi Temple, Yaowang Temple, Kanli Palace and the Jade Emperor Pavilion. Continue to the viewpoint near Lanyue Pavilion. After visiting the temples, descend on an open path. Allow about 3–4 hours for the outing and adjust your stops to your pace.

The temple complex is not on the same stretch as the park's main path. If you want to enter the halls, check that they are still open. If someone in your group has difficulty with steps, they can stay by the lake rather than attempting a steep alternative.

Get there

By bus from central Jilin

Buses 7 and 8 have previously run from the west plaza of Jilin Railway Station toward Beishan Park or Desheng Gate. Bus 42 has also stopped at Beishan Park. Routes may change; check stops and departures on the Jilin Public Transport Group service or the “吉林行” app on the day.

By car and nearby food

Navigate to “北山公园” or “吉林市船营区德胜路.” Parking spaces and fees around the park depend on on-site information. Arrive early during temple fairs and holidays, or consider taking a bus or taxi.

Snack shops and casual restaurants are near the park entrance and along Desheng Road. They can be convenient after a walk or climb; check each business's hours for the day.

Know before you go

Temple hours and tickets

The main park and its temples, boat rides and other activities may have different opening hours and ticket types. At the entrance, check the notices for each temple and confirm whether a separate ticket is needed and whether visitors can enter.

Steps, crowds and seasonal changes

The hiking route has steps and slopes that may be slippery after rain or snow. Wear shoes with good grip and bring water. Temple fairs and holidays draw larger crowds; allow time for the climb and descent. Rest in open areas if you feel tired, and stay off closed paths and away from abandoned facilities.

The lotus season, lake activities and views from pavilions change with the season and weather. If you are visiting mainly for lotus flowers, boating or the pavilion views, confirm that the activity or area is open that day.
