Location, entrance and tickets
Lanxi Underground River is in Dongyuan Village, Lingdong Township, Lanxi, Jinhua, Zhejiang. The entrance is around the Lingdong Resort archway; navigate to “Lanxi Underground River Scenic Area”. The reference adult ticket is CNY 110. Some ticket types may include the boat and an in-cave visual programme, so confirm exactly what is included on the day of purchase.
Reference summer hours are 07:30–17:00 and winter hours are 08:00–16:30. The underground boat section has limited capacity, and queues can be long during holidays. Do not schedule the departure from the walking time inside the cave alone.
How much time to allow
A quick route takes about 2–3 hours. Allow 3–4 hours if you want to look slowly at the stalactites and complete the land section. The site suits visitors interested in caves, geological landscapes and family learning, and can be treated as a separate half-day choice alongside other Lanxi stops.
The cave floor may be wet, and leaving the cave involves a relatively steep flight of steps. With older adults or children, assess their walking ability and the return time before deciding to complete the entire route.

The underground river and stalactites
The first section is mainly a boat ride into the underground river. Boat capacity and operating arrangements affect the waiting time. Inside the cave, observe the rock formations, stalactites and waterway space, and follow the boat and cave staff when taking photographs.
After leaving the boat, the land section contains rock formations, passages and a visual-lighting programme. Whether these are open and included in the day’s ticket follows the on-site arrangement. Visitors interested in natural caves can focus on the geological forms rather than extending the visit to wait for a visual programme.
Who it suits
Cave enthusiasts, families and visitors who enjoy indoor natural landscapes can plan a half-day visit. Visitors with limited mobility should consider boarding and exiting the boat, wet surfaces and the steps at the exit. If necessary, complete only the open sections suitable for the group.
Outdoor conditions can feel damp and cool in rain, while the cave and outside may feel different. A light jacket and non-slip shoes are more useful than trying to buy equipment after arrival.
Build your day
A 2–3 hour short route
Walk from the entrance to the pier, board the boat into the underground river according to the on-site order, observe the cave scenery, leave the boat at the designated point and follow the land section toward the exit. Boat queues can change substantially, so after checking in or waiting for the boat, do not move too far from the assigned area.
The exit steps are relatively steep. Slow down after finishing the cave section. If the visual programme is paused, complete the open cave route rather than returning to the queue to force the missing activity into the visit.
A complete 3–4 hour route
With more time, leave room to observe both the boat and land sections. Follow the sequence through the stalactites, cave passages and any visual area that is open. In the dim cave, watch for dripping water and the position of other visitors, and do not stop in the centre of a narrow passage for a photograph.
After completing the route, follow the exit signs directly to the parking area or next stop. If you are also visiting Zhuge Bagua Village, confirm the road transfer and both attractions’ last-entry times first. They require separate tickets and separate return planning.
Connecting with Zhuge Bagua Village
Zhuge Bagua Village and Lanxi Underground River can form a Lanxi-area day, but they are two independent attractions. Buy and check tickets separately and calculate the time at each site. Combine them only when the road transfer, queues and return all have enough margin.
If the boat queue is too long or weather affects the roads, keep one attraction for a complete visit instead of compressing the safe cave time to complete both.
Get there
Driving and the scenic-area entrance
Drivers can navigate to Lanxi Underground River Scenic Area. The entrance is by the Lingdong Resort archway, and parking is usually available near the entrance. After arriving, confirm the ticket check, pier and return-vehicle position before entering the cave.
Public transport
You can take Lanxi Bus 302 to Shangxu, but there is still a relatively long and inconvenient walk after getting off. If you choose public transport, arrange a taxi or another vehicle for the final leg, and confirm the return vehicle as well. Do not assume that the evening return will follow the same service as the outbound trip.
If you are coming from Zhuge Bagua Village, confirm the road and last-entry time first. The boat queue can affect your leaving time, so do not transfer at the very end of the available public transport period.
Know before you go
Boat section, weather and visual programme
The underground-river boat section has limited capacity and may involve a long holiday wait. Boat intervals, the visual programme and the open cave areas follow the day’s arrangements. Allow for waiting based on what you see after buying the ticket; do not build a personal schedule around a fixed boat interval or a guaranteed show effect.
Rain can make the outside road slippery, and the cave also has dripping water. Bring rain protection and non-slip shoes, and follow the on-site route around wet steps or closed areas.
Exit steps and photography
The exit includes a relatively steep flight of steps. Older adults, young children and visitors with knee problems should assess it in advance. The cave is dim, so keep your phone steady and leave the passage clear; do not stay too long on the boat route, stairs or narrow paths for a photograph.
The scenic area may offer photography services. Decide for yourself whether you want the photographs and ask about the price and contents before buying. Food choices inside are limited, so carry water and arrange a proper meal after leaving.
