The Hedong Road entrance in Guling Town
Meilu Villa is at No. 180 Hedong Road in Guling Town, with the entrance on the courtyard side facing the street. Take the Lushan sightseeing bus to “Meilu Villa Station” or walk from the town centre. The villa is covered by the Lushan pass, and the visit focuses on the house itself, its courtyard and the history of modern-era residence.
Booking, time slots and crowd control
From July 1, 2026, Meilu Villa is part of Lushan’s real-name reservation pass for cultural museums and historic venues. Use the “一机游庐山” mini program to choose a morning or afternoon slot; each slot has a reservation limit of 6,000 people. One successful reservation covers Meilu Villa, Lushan Conference Site, Lushan Museum and Lushan Wenboyuan (庐山文博苑) during the selected period, with no need to reserve each venue separately. Each venue still follows its own opening hours and closure days. Meilu is open from 08:30 to 16:30 and closes on the first and third Wednesday of each month, except on public holidays; temporary crowd control may be introduced when visitor numbers are high.

The courtyard inscription and objects in the main house
The stone carved with “Meilu” in the courtyard is the first main stop after the entrance. On the first floor, see Song Meiling’s bedroom, the sitting room, a refrigerator, a toilet and other historic objects. The German piano, dressing table and the rattan reclining chair used by Mao Zedong bring the visit from the outside architecture to concrete traces of how the house was lived in.
The villa, courtyard and modern history
Displays cover the villa’s use as a summer residence and the stays of different historical figures. In the courtyard, look for the remains of the trumpet vine planted by Song Meiling. The open-air steps made from natural stones behind the house, the fengxiang tree (枫香树, Liquidambar formosana) on the east side and the second-floor balcony offer different views of the building and courtyard; autumn can add red leaves beside the walls.
Who it suits
Visitors interested in Republican-era history, modern Chinese history, notable figures, architecture or courtyard photography can allow 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. Visitors who mainly want natural scenery or continuous hiking should treat Meilu as a Guling Town heritage stop; the villa visit does not replace an eastern-route hike.
Build your day
A 30-minute short route
Enter from the street-facing side, see the “Meilu” inscription stone in the courtyard and then visit the first-floor bedroom, sitting room and historic objects. This order takes about 30 minutes; finish on Guling’s main street or at the sightseeing-bus stop.
A 1–1.5-hour highlights route
Follow the short route, then read the indoor displays more closely to learn about the residence and its guests. Look for the trumpet-vine remains in the courtyard, then use the open-air stone steps behind the house for more exterior and courtyard views. Allow about 1–1.5 hours.
Connecting with Guling’s heritage route
Meilu Villa fits well into a morning or afternoon section of Guling Town’s heritage route. After the visit, eat in town and continue to another venue covered by the same reservation pass. Each venue still follows its own opening hours and closure days; schedule the Conference Site within the period selected on the reservation pass.
Get there
By sightseeing bus or on foot
Take the Lushan sightseeing bus to “Meilu Villa Station”; the entrance is on the street-facing side of the courtyard. From central Guling Town, walk to the villa as a short heritage stop. Find the street-facing entrance first, then join the queue for your reserved time slot.
Food and return
Return to Hemian Street (合面街) or Main Street in Guling Town for food; there are many choices, but prices in the visitor area are relatively high. Walk back to your accommodation or change to a sightseeing bus according to its operating schedule. Arrange vehicle parking before reaching Guling.
Know before you go
Closure days and reservation capacity
Meilu closes on the first and third Wednesday of each month, except on public holidays; follow the monthly schedule. From July 2026, use the cultural-venue reservation pass and select a morning or afternoon slot. Each slot has a reservation limit of 6,000 people, and one reservation covers Meilu, the Conference Site, Lushan Museum and Lushan Wenboyuan (庐山文博苑) without separate venue bookings. Temporary crowd control may still be introduced when the venue is busy.
Indoor crowds and photography
Indoor rooms can be crowded in summer and on public holidays, while an early visit is better for the bedroom, sitting room and displays. The inscription stone, east-side fengxiang tree (枫香树, Liquidambar formosana), second-floor balcony and piano area offer different photo angles; take photos only in spaces open for photography.
Tickets and the heritage boundary
Meilu Villa is covered by the CNY 160 Lushan core scenic-area pass, while the reservation pass, time slots, opening hours and monthly closure days still govern entry to the venue. Meilu and the Lushan Conference Site are both in Guling’s heritage area, but the Conference Site page covers the three conferences, main hall and Anti-Japanese War Museum.
