How to Visit
1

Book the correct product

Buy the scenic ticket if you want to walk down toward the Buddha, visit Lingyun Temple, and continue toward Wuyou Temple. Buy the cruise ticket if you only want the front view from the river.

Tip:The walking ticket and boat ticket are separate products.
2

Start from the north entrance

Use the north entrance for the standard walking route, then move through Lingyun Mountain, Lingyun Temple, the Giant Buddha area, and the Jiuqu Plank Road if it is open.

Tip:The plank road is one-way and creates the longest waits on holidays.
3

Decide early whether to queue for the feet

Going down to the Buddha's feet gives the closest view, but waiting time can dominate the day. If the queue is long, use upper viewpoints and the cruise instead.

Tip:Rain, heat, crowd control, or repairs can change access.
4

Continue toward Wuyou Temple if you still have energy

Wuyou Temple is quieter and works well after the main Buddha route. It adds steps and time, so keep it optional if traveling with children or older visitors.

Tip:Wear shoes with grip for stone steps.
5

Leave food for the city

Food around the tourist core is convenient but not always best value. Save appetite for Zhanggongqiao, Suji, or old-city food stops after the visit.

Tip:Bring water before entering the scenic area.
Highlights
  • 71-meter Tang-dynasty cliff carving facing the meeting of three rivers
  • Choice between close walking route and full frontal boat view
  • Lingyun Temple and Wuyou Temple add cultural context beyond the Buddha photo
  • Classic day trip from Chengdu or half-day anchor inside Leshan
  • Strong pairing with local food streets after sightseeing
Insider Tips

Use the cruise if you need an easier visit with older travelers or young children.

Go early on weekends and holidays because the plank road can queue for a long time.

Do not trust roadside ticket touts or unofficial guides.

Avoid the lower plank road during heavy rain or extreme heat if access is restricted.

Keep your plan flexible if you want both walking and boat viewing in one day.
