Location, admission and opening hours

Haizhou Bay Tourism Resort (海州湾旅游度假区) is in Xiaokou Village, Haitou Town, Ganyu District, east of National Highway 228. It is a free coastal resort with a beach of about 2 kilometres and a coastal locust-forest area. The resort is open 24 hours with no reservation. A free car park is available near the entrance, and the beach is reached on foot after parking.

How much time to allow

Allow 30–60 minutes for the seaside installations and a quick beach walk. A first visit is better with 2–4 hours for sand play, a walk, low-tide activities near the southern sea wall and photography. The resort is far from central Lianyungang, so include the return drive and supplies in the day's plan.

Choose your visit

Beach, forest and sea wall

The main experience is the approximately 2-kilometre beach, coastal locust forest and tidal flats that appear as the tide falls. The main beach works for walking and sand play, while the southern sea wall is the better direction for tidal-flat activities. The two areas offer different experiences, so there is no need to stay only near the main beach.

Seaside installations

The “I DO MARRY ME” heart sign, Moon Staircase, seaside swing and “#CHAO Tidal Flat” sign sit along the seaside route. They suit couples, families and visitors travelling with pets. Broken shells are common on the beach, so wear non-slip shoes or beach clogs for both walking and photography.

Who this suits

Haizhou Bay suits families who want sand and tidal-flat activities, couples looking for photographs, pet owners and visitors who like open beaches. Commercial facilities are limited, so it is best for travellers who are comfortable driving and carrying their own supplies.

Build your day

A 30–60 minute quick route

Enter through the main entrance and walk along the main path to the beach. Visit the “I DO MARRY ME” heart sign, Moon Staircase and seaside swing, then return. With limited time, stay near the entrance-side installations rather than walking to the southern sea wall.

A 2–4 hour first-visit route

Main entrance → seaside installations → beach and sand play → walk south to the sea wall → tidal-flat activity according to the tide → return to the main entrance. Check the tide table first; the period around two hours before and after low tide is usually more suitable. Do not continue outward after the tide starts rising.

Combining Haizhou Bay Ocean Park

Haizhou Bay Ocean Park is nearby and suits families who want sea-lion, seal or mermaid shows. Add it only after fitting the fixed beach route around the day's opening and performance times; the seaside walk should remain the anchor of the visit.

Get there

Driving and high-speed rail

Drivers can navigate to Haizhou Bay Tourism Resort, which has free parking. From Ganyu Railway Station, a taxi takes about 20 minutes. There is no direct metro connection from central Lianyungang, and public-transport connections are limited, so driving or arranging a car in advance is more practical for a first visit.

Getting to the southern sea wall

Walk from the car park and main entrance to the beach, then continue south toward the sea wall for tidal-flat activities. The beach, flats and sea wall are not immediately next to one another. Families or visitors carrying equipment should set a return meeting point before walking south.

Know before you go

Tide, safety and equipment

Check the tide table and plan the activity for around two hours before or after low tide. Watch the rising tide and do not walk too far out. Mud, reefs and broken shells can cut your feet, so wear non-slip shoes. Children should remain within sight, and unknown marine life should not be picked up by hand.

Sun and supplies

The seaside UV is strong. Bring sunscreen, a sun shirt and a hat. Commercial facilities are limited, so carry enough drinking water, simple food and wet wipes; plan lunch, washing and last-minute shopping before arriving rather than relying on nearby businesses.

Parking and nearby food

Follow the signs for the resort's free car park and avoid the nearby paid parking area. For seafood, visit Zhupengkou Seafood Market, buy seafood and have it cooked nearby. Haitou Town has local snacks such as Lao Song noodles and Liangpi Xiaowu. Qinshan Island is another nearby island option, but it requires a separate pier and ferry schedule.
