Plan at a glance
Location, admission and opening hours
Zaihaiyifang Park (在海一方公园) is at No. 2 Tangli Road on the seaside avenue in Xugou, Lianyungang. It is a free, open city park with 24-hour access and no reservation. There is no fixed gate; the usual entrance is opposite Jinling Shenzhou Hotel, about a 1–2 minute walk from the main beach.
How much time to allow
Allow about 1 hour for the blue-and-white hut, the “I Am Watching the Sea” wall and the Lone Tree. If you want to explore the reef area at low tide and spend time on the lawn, allow 2–3 hours. The park suits families, city walkers, light photography and a short seaside stop rather than a ticketed full-day attraction.

Tidal flats and seaside walking
After the tide goes out, mudflats and reefs on the northern side may appear. Visitors can look for small crabs, hermit crabs and small shells. Check the low-tide time first. The mud and reef sections are better with rain boots, and children should remain within the shallow open area.
The blue-and-white hut, Lone Tree and octopus sculpture
The “Zaihaiyifang” and “I Am Watching the Sea” logo walls are beside the blue-and-white hut on the beach. The Lone Tree stands on higher ground on the lawn, with the sea and port behind it. A red octopus sculpture and the pine trees above the beach work well for family or casual seaside photographs.
Who this suits
The park suits families wanting a short tidal-flat experience, visitors who want a city walk by the sea and anyone looking for an hour of photography or sunset. Sunny weather gives a clearer sea view; on rainy or overcast days, the water can look muddy.
Build your day
A 1-hour quick route
Enter opposite Jinling Shenzhou Hotel and walk to the beach. Visit the blue-and-white hut and the “I Am Watching the Sea” logo wall, then walk along the shore to the Lone Tree before returning. The route is short and fits well after Liandao or Lianyungang Old Street.
A 2–3 hour full route
Entrance → western reef area → tidal-flat activity after the tide goes out → beach rest → Lone Tree on the lawn → red octopus sculpture. Adjust the order to the tide and light. Before going into the reef area, make sure the water is not rising quickly.
Tidal flats and the return journey
The park has limited washing facilities and only paid foot-washing points. Do not schedule a formal activity immediately after water play unless you have time to clean up. Taxis can be difficult to find when visitors return from Liandao on weekends and holidays, so arrange a bus or return vehicle early.
Get there
Bus and driving
Take B1 or B1K to the Zaihaiyifang Park stop. From Lianyungang Railway Station, the bus ride takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and costs about CNY 2. Drivers can navigate to the park. The National Exhibition Centre car park is the more regular paid option; roadside parking is possible only where traffic rules allow it.
Moving inside the park
The entrance is about 1–2 minutes from the beach, and the core areas are connected by walking paths. Reef, lawn and sand surfaces differ, so families should bring shoes that can get wet. Do not follow the falling tide farther into the flats just to extend a photograph.
Know before you go
Tidal-flat safety and equipment
Mud can pull strongly at your feet. Wear rain boots rather than sandals or bare feet. Watch for sharp reef surfaces when lifting stones; sea cockroaches are harmless but may surprise children. Unknown marine life should not be handled by hand. This is a casual tidal-flat experience, not a guaranteed large catch.
Weather, cleaning and transport
Sunny weather is better for the sea view and photography, while rainy weather can make the water look dull. Washing facilities are limited, so plan a cleanup after summer water play. On holidays, buses or a pre-arranged vehicle are more reliable than an on-demand taxi for the return.
Nearby combinations and food
Liandao offers a longer beach route, while Yangshan Island has sunrise views and seaside photo spots. For seafood, visit the Xugou seafood market and take what you buy to a nearby processing shop. Qixia Road Pedestrian Street has local snacks such as stinky tofu, grilled oysters and cold noodles. Drivers should prefer the National Exhibition Centre car park and follow local parking rules.
