Location and the character of the park
Jiangxi Ming and Qing Ancient Dwellings Expo Park is on Qicai Road in Meiling Town. It is an open-air architectural park made up of Ming and Qing homes relocated and reconstructed from different parts of Jiangxi. The visit focuses on courtyards, doors, windows, interior tianjing courtyards (天井), wood carving, and lane connections. These buildings were mostly relocated and reconstructed, so this is an ancient-dwellings expo park rather than a traditional village preserved on its original site.
Tickets, entry, and hours
Adult tickets commonly range from CNY 40 to 50, and on-site and online prices may differ. Before visiting, confirm whether the Nanchang Culture and Tourism Card currently provides free admission and whether a mini-program reservation is required. The park is usually open about 09:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:30. Also check whether the Hanfu free-admission offer and seasonal activities are available, then confirm the ticket type and cutoff before entering.
How much time to allow
For the Red Lantern Corridor, Dafudi (大夫第), and Yuanhetang (远和堂), allow 1–1.5 hours. To include Hanlin Residence, Meiling Academy, Taiyiyuan (太医院, Imperial Medical Hall), and more courtyards, allow 2–3 hours. The lanes, courtyards, and wood carving reward a slower walk; if time is short, keep Yuanhetang and Dafudi and leave other Meiling attractions for another visit.

Relocated homes and Gan-style details
The park has 10 protected Ming and Qing homes relocated from central and northeastern Jiangxi, plus 16 later-built imitation structures. Dafudi, Ronghuadi (荣华第), Shijiedi (示介第), Yuanhetang, and Hanlin Residence are among the main architectural stops. Yuanhetang’s moon gate, ceiling wood carving, and motifs of coins and bats are especially worth a closer look for visitors interested in traditional buildings and craft.
Intangible-heritage activities
Huaminfu (化民府) may host Gan-style Tao-family embroidery (陶氏刺绣), while Shijiedi may offer movable-type printing. The exact activities depend on the day. Families can check these interactive sections before deciding whether to rent Hanfu for photos; their opening and fees are separate from the general admission ticket.
Photography and a quiet walk
The Red Lantern Corridor works for a deep entrance view, while doors, windows, and courtyards create framed compositions. Yuanhetang’s moon gate gives a classic courtyard view. Courtyard light is clearer on sunny days, but strong sun, rain, and crowds change the result; for a quieter architectural walk, arrive earlier on a weekday or outside the weekend peak.

The 1–1.5 hour core route
Enter through the Red Lantern Corridor and follow the main lane to Dafudi. Continue to Yuanhetang for the moon gate, wood carving, and courtyard, then leave through the indicated exit. This short route suits a first visit focused on the park’s main character and leaves time for another Meiling stop.
The 2–3 hour route without backtracking
After entering, start on the left with Hanlin Residence and Meiling Academy, then move toward Taiyiyuan (太医院, Imperial Medical Hall; 豫章圣手堂) on the right and finish deeper inside at Yuanhetang. Add the Huaminfu embroidery or Shijiedi movable-type printing if open, and follow the lane direction to reduce repeated crossings between courtyards.
Rest and leaving the park
If you plan Hanfu photography or an intangible-heritage activity, check rental, activity, and queue conditions before placing the fixed architectural stops in the route. After touring, take a short break at the Ming and Qing Charm Cafe inside an old house. Decide after leaving whether to continue to another Meiling attraction or eat nearby; plan each point separately.
Get there
Driving to Qicai Road
From central Nanchang, driving takes about 40–60 minutes. Navigate to Jiangxi Ming and Qing Ancient Dwellings Expo Park on Qicai Road in Meiling Town; the park has parking. Parking can fill on Meiling weekends and holidays, so arrive early and use the designated area. Keep mountain roads and entrance lanes clear if no space is immediately available.
Bus service and frequency
Bus 540, formerly Route 112, reaches “Mingqingyuan Station” (明清园站), right by the entrance. Service is infrequent and the trip takes time, so check the return bus before choosing a 1–1.5 or 2–3 hour visit. The park is in Meiling Town, where city-center metro walking assumptions do not apply.
Know before you go
Food and water
Food inside the park is limited. The Ming and Qing Charm Cafe is a place to rest, while a full meal usually means going to Meiling’s surrounding area. Bring water and a small snack; nearby farm restaurants such as Lijia Restaurant, Yidao Mountain Vegetables, and Honghe Renjia depend on the day for opening and queues.
Weekends, weather, and outdoor sections
Parking, Hanfu photography, and popular courtyards can all become busy on weekends and holidays. Stone paths and timber entrances may be slippery in rain. Sunny weather helps with courtyard light, but summer temperatures, crowds, and nearby water-play spots can affect the wider Meiling plan; the expo park itself follows its own open areas.
