A grassland and Mongolian-Han culture park near Dongsheng
Jiuchenggong is in Hantai Town, Dongsheng District. This large scenic area combines grassland customs, Mongolian and Han Chinese cultural heritage, leisure attractions and seasonal activities. Search using the full name, “Jiuchenggong Grassland Cultural Tourist Area.” Its Chinese name, 九城宫, is different from the historical site 九成宫 in Shaanxi.
Entry to the grounds is free; activities and venues have separate hours
Free entry does not mean the sightseeing bus, rides, exhibition spaces and experiences inside are free or open all day. A third-party attraction page lists the grounds as open all day, but individual activities have their own hours. Plan separately for public areas, indoor spaces and ticketed activities, and check the day’s activity list before setting out.

Choose your visit
Start with the Manhan (漫瀚) courtyards and folk architecture
Manhan courtyards reflect cultural exchange between Mongolian pastoral life and Han farming traditions. One example is the Manhan siheyuan (四合院), a traditional courtyard compound; the cave dwellings of Shaanbei (northern Shaanxi) reflect another local building tradition. Visit the folk exhibition area first to see the courtyards and living spaces, then decide whether to continue to the rides. Visiting or taking photos there does not mean you have entered a themed accommodation or restaurant area.
Outdoor activities depend on season and weather
In warmer months, look for the glass bridge, roughly 1,500-meter glass rafting ride, monorail coaster, go-karts, grass skiing, archery and Muqu Water-and-Sand Park. High-wind or rainy weather and equipment maintenance may suspend high-altitude or water activities. From October onward, check current activities, height and age limits, and safety requirements first.
Barbecue only in designated areas and under current rules
Check separately whether the designated barbecue area is open, whether a product includes the site or equipment, and what fire-safety rules apply that day. Use only areas explicitly approved by the scenic area. Do not make a fire in grassland or woodland, or assume that bringing your own food automatically gives you permission to barbecue.
For a separate Dongsheng museum visit focused on Bronze Age displays, see Ordos Bronze Museum.
Build your day
Short visit | 2–3 hours, choose one activity area
From the entrance, take a sightseeing bus operating that day to a main area and choose one ride or activity that is open. Then visit a Manhan courtyard or cave dwelling. If the water-and-sand park, glass rafting or archery is closed, switch to an indoor folk exhibit or shorten your visit; you do not need to change entrances to look for a suspended activity.
Longer visit | 4–6 hours for rides and culture
If you have more time, spend the morning in the rides area with go-karts, a glass attraction or another activity operating that day. Take a meal or rest break, then visit folk architecture and the family activity area in the afternoon. Allow time for shuttle rides and queues between stops, and adjust the order to the day’s route. Choose only activities that are operating and suit your group.
Leave a flexible window for the midday shuttle
Midday sightseeing-bus stops and departure times depend on the day. If you need to travel to another area after lunch, ask when the bus leaves and how long you may have to wait. Leave a buffer for any route that depends on the bus; do not schedule it immediately before a timed reservation.
Get there
Navigate to Jiuchenggong in Hantai Town
The scenic area is in Jiuchenggong Village near Hantai Town, Dongsheng District. The municipal tourism directory places it north of the Hantai Town Tourist Route and northwest of South Ring Road. From central Dongsheng, follow live navigation and road conditions. On arrival, use the signs for the parking area.
Check the bus route and parking fees on site
The municipal transport bureau’s 2024 route list shows Route 26 serving Jiuchenggong, Ordos Wildlife Park and the Bronze Museum. The list is older; confirm the current operating day, boarding stop and return service before traveling. A third-party page lists parking information, but check current fees and space availability on site. If winter activities finish late, confirm your return trip in advance.

What the Ordos annual pass covers at Jiuchenggong
Entry to Jiuchenggong is free. The 2026 Ordos Tourist All-in-One Annual Pass lists round-trip sightseeing-bus rides, Muqu Water-and-Sand Park, Qingqing World, the Manhan Siheyuan, Shaanbei family cave dwellings, use of a designated barbecue area and 10 arrows for archery among its benefits for this park. Check the current pass price and activities against that year’s product information. Free entry to the grounds does not mean every on-site expense is included.
Check the two passes through their separate issuing channels
The 2026 Ordos Tourist All-in-One Annual Pass is listed at RMB 100. The pass takes effect at midnight on the day after purchase. Real-name registration and facial recognition are required. It is a different product from the Inner Mongolia Culture and Tourism Pass, with a separate issuing channel and benefit list. It has not been confirmed whether a passport can be used for real-name registration and facial recognition; contact the platform before buying if you use a passport. The Jiuchenggong benefits listed here—including archery, the water-and-sand park and barbecue area—do not apply to other grassland scenic areas.
Use different activity lists in summer and winter
In warmer months, look for water-and-sand activities, glass rafting and grass skiing. In winter, check the scenic area’s current ice and snow activity notice. Do not assume summer facilities remain open or that winter ski runs have opened. Before traveling, confirm opening dates, activity prices, height and age limits, and the last sightseeing bus. Bring water, sun protection or warm clothing as needed.
