Plan at a glance
Start at the exit Visitor Center
Nielong Cave is in Qingxi Village, Yangqi Township, Shangli County, Pingxiang, Jiangxi. Navigate to the “Yangqi Mountain Nielong Cave Scenic Area Visitor Center.” It handles both ticketing and the exit after the cave walk. After buying the ticket, take the attraction bus to the mid-mountain entrance; the cave walk does not start directly at the Visitor Center.
Ticket, opening and total time
The adult ticket is CNY 68 and the student ticket is CNY 34. The attraction bus to the mid-mountain entrance costs CNY 10 per person. Ticket sales currently run from about 08:30 to 16:30; check the day's notice for the exact last-admission time. The single cave route is about 3.2 km and usually takes 1.5–2 hours, with ticketing and the bus transfer added separately.

Main underground sights
The cave experience centres on clear air, flowing water, strange rocks and waterfalls. Named sights include Dongtian Waterfall (洞天飞瀑), Qianren Hall (千人厅) and Qingtianzhu (擎天柱). Dongtian Waterfall is about 9 metres high and 7 metres wide, making the wider part of the trail useful for showing its scale. Along the route, you can also see formations such as Yuda Bajiao (雨打芭蕉) and Tongzi Bai Guanyin (童子拜观音).
Who will enjoy it
The route suits visitors who like geological scenery, cave exploration and sustained walking. In summer, families and friends can use the cave's roughly 18°C environment as a cool break. The full route is about 3.2 km with wet surfaces and steps, so families with young children, visitors with limited mobility and anyone needing a stroller should assess whether they can complete the walk.
Photography times
Cave photography focuses on the full view of Dongtian Waterfall (洞天飞瀑), close details of the formations and the sense of space along the trail. Weekdays or later afternoon may be relatively quiet, but other visitors may still be present. Cave lighting, humidity and visitor flow will affect the image.
Build your day
The single one-way order
Buy the ticket at the Visitor Center and take the attraction bus to the mid-mountain entrance. From there, enter the cave and follow the trail through Dongtian Waterfall (洞天飞瀑), Qianren Hall (千人厅) and Qingtianzhu (擎天柱), then continue walking about 3.2 km to exit on the Visitor Center side. The route is one way with no backtracking and no separate fast tour.
Allow 1.5–2 hours for the cave walk
The cave walk usually takes 1.5–2 hours, counted from entering at the mid-mountain entrance. Add time for ticketing, waiting and the bus ride separately. Reach the Visitor Center before ticket sales end; check the day's notice for the exact last-admission time.
Finish at the Visitor Center
The Visitor Center is the exit, so after leaving the cave you can return directly to the car park or go for food nearby. If you are travelling from the city, Anyuan Workers' Movement Memorial Museum can be placed on another part of the round trip, but calculate the two visits separately rather than treating the cave walk and the revolutionary-history area as one internal route.
Get there
Driving and parking
The drive from Pingxiang city takes about 30 minutes. Navigate to the “Yangqi Mountain Nielong Cave Scenic Area Visitor Center”; parking costs about CNY 5–10 and a parking area is available there. Park at the Visitor Center, then buy a ticket and take the attraction bus. The mid-mountain cave entrance is not a private-car parking point.
Public transport
From Pingxiang West Railway Station or Jinsanjiao Bus Station, take the Pingxiang–Shangli bus and get off at Qingxi Station. From Qingxi Station, follow the Visitor Center, ticketing, bus, mid-mountain entrance and exit order. Bus connections and the attraction-bus arrangement follow the day's on-site information.
Know before you go
Wet surfaces, steps and no restroom
The cave is walked from end to end on a trail with wet surfaces and steps, so wear shoes with good grip. There is no restroom inside and the signal is weak. There is currently no accessible-route information, and a baby stroller is not suitable; assess your ability to walk the full 3.2 km.
Temperature difference and photography
The cave is about 18°C, which may feel different from outside; in summer, a light jacket can be useful. Dongtian Waterfall (洞天飞瀑) works for a wide shot, while the formations suit close details. Humidity may affect equipment and footing, so keep to the available walking space while taking photographs.
Food and extra charges
Qingxi Restaurant and Xu Ji Stone Pot Fish are options near the Visitor Center and in Qingxi. After returning to the city, you can try Lianhua Blood Duck (莲花血鸭) or Pingxiang fried rice noodles. The scenic area has a free photo point that gives a one-inch mini photo; larger photographs cost extra. Other cave facilities and lighting effects follow the day's arrangement.
