Plan at a glance
Where the first cableway is
Zhong'an Cableway is the first cableway from the Shigu Temple side of the mountain, with its station near the Shigu Temple hiking entrance. After reaching the Pingxiang Wugong Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Service Center, take the free scenic-area shuttle to Shigu Temple and walk to the cableway station. The Zhong'an upper station is still on the mid-mountain slope, so you must walk or transfer afterward; Golden Summit is not the end of this cableway.
Fare and operating window
The Zhong'an Cableway ticket costs CNY 65 uphill and CNY 50 downhill. It runs about 08:30–17:10 in the peak season and 08:30–16:30 in the off-peak season, with possible extensions on holidays and in summer. No advance reservation is normally needed, but busy periods may use on-site QR queue numbers, so online ticket purchase and the on-site queue are two consecutive steps.

Save your energy for the upper mountain
Zhong'an Cableway reduces the climb from Shigu Temple to the mid-mountain area, leaving more energy for the scenery and walking above the upper station. For visitors who want only part of the mountain scenery or plan to continue to Golden Summit Cableway, the first cableway shortens the lower climb; Golden Summit still requires a later walk or transfer.
Views inside and outside the cabin
On the way up, look through the cabin windows at the forest below, clouds and the changing elevation. A Mayday lyric sticker inside the cabin is a distinctive detail of this ride. Photography focuses on the moving mountain scenery and the sticker; reflections or heavy mist may affect the image.
Who should choose it
Zhong'an Cableway suits visitors with average fitness, older adults, children and anyone who wants to save energy for the summit meadows. Visitors comfortable with a long climb can also walk all the way up from Shigu Temple, but that option uses considerably more energy, with the full distance and time depending on the trail chosen that day.
Build your day
Transfer to Golden Summit Cableway
Take the free scenic-area shuttle from the Visitor Service Center to Shigu Temple, then ride Zhong'an Cableway uphill. From its upper station, follow the Ziji Palace (紫极宫), Fuxinggu (福星谷), Xuyuan Bridge (许愿桥) and Fuxinggu Boardwalk (福星谷栈道) direction to the Golden Summit Cableway lower station, then transfer according to the day's on-site route. Follow the on-site signs for the route open that day, and allow extra time for walking and queues.
Hike to the summit
From Ziji Palace (紫极宫), the hiking order is Haohanpo (好汉坡), Xingkong Walkway (星空栈道), Diaomazhuang (吊马桩) and then Golden Summit. Include the walk from Shigu Temple to Ziji Palace, the ridge section and the final ascent in the same time plan. This is a separate line from the Fuxinggu direction used to reach Golden Summit Cableway.
Connecting the descent
When returning from the summit, you can hike back to the Zhong'an Cableway area and buy a downhill ticket. This route can avoid the Golden Summit Cableway downhill queue; whether it fits the day depends on your walking energy, cableway operations and the queue on site.
Get there
Reach the Visitor Service Center before changing vehicles
From Pingxiang North Railway Station or Pingxiang Railway Station, take the official high-speed-rail shuttle to the Wugong Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Service Center for about CNY 27, or take a taxi or shared taxi for about CNY 30–40 per person. The mountain road is winding and can cause motion sickness. At the Visitor Service Center, change to the free scenic-area shuttle to Shigu Temple; the cableway does not connect directly to either railway station or the Visitor Service Center.
Driving and supplies before departure
Drive to the “Pingxiang Wugong Mountain Scenic Area Visitor Service Center,” where a large car park is available. Drinks shops such as Guming and Mixue Bingcheng are near the Visitor Service Center, so you can buy a drink or simple supplies before changing vehicles. Snacks and water cost more on the mountain, so plan what to carry for a longer stay.
Know before you go
The busy-period queue process
Zhong'an Cableway may use QR queue numbers on holidays. During busy periods, buy the cableway ticket online first, then scan for a queue number on site and wait for your number to be called. After an online purchase you still need to take a number in person; the calling and missed-number rules follow the day's notice. Try to reach the cableway station before 10:00.
Two routes after the upper station
From the Zhong'an upper station, follow Ziji Palace (紫极宫), Fuxinggu (福星谷), Xuyuan Bridge (许愿桥) and Fuxinggu Boardwalk (福星谷栈道) to Golden Summit Cableway. For a summit hike, follow Ziji Palace (紫极宫), Haohanpo (好汉坡), Xingkong Walkway (星空栈道) and Diaomazhuang (吊马桩). Open sections, walking time and signs may change, so arrange the day's movement around the route shown on site.
Supplies and weather limits
Mountain snacks and water cost more, so buy drinks near the Visitor Service Center and carry energy supplies. Stoppage rules in wind, rain, low visibility or during equipment maintenance follow the cableway station notice. Any peak-season, holiday or summer extension also follows that day's notice.
