Treat Langde as a daytime short stop
Langde Miao Village works best as a side stop from Kaili, Leishan, or Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village. It is not usually a full-day main destination. Plan the visit during the main daytime hours, roughly 08:30-18:00, and allow 2-3 hours for most visitors.
Buy tickets at Lower Village, then go to Upper Village
Langde is split between Lower Village and Upper Village. The visitor center is in Lower Village, while the main old buildings and performances are in Upper Village. The entrance ticket is commonly CNY 50, and the entrance plus round-trip sightseeing bus is commonly CNY 60. If you have time and enough energy, you can also walk up from Lower Village.
Aim for the folk activities around 11:00
The core experiences are the Twelve-Round Welcome Wine and Miao song-and-dance performance. The morning session is more reliable. If you arrive too late, an afternoon session may not be available, especially in low season or outside holidays.
Walk Upper Village slowly after the performance
After the performance, continue through Upper Village's stone lanes, wooden stilt houses, wind-and-rain bridge, viewpoints, Yang Daliu's former residence, and small display spaces. Langde is not about a large spectacle. Its value is the slower pace and Miao village living space.
✦Budget CNY 50 for the entrance ticket. If taking the round-trip sightseeing bus, budget CNY 60 for a clearer plan.
✦The performance affects the visit more than anything else, so aim to arrive in the morning. If you miss the performance, Langde becomes more of a quiet village stop.
✦The route from Lower Village to Upper Village has slopes and stone paths. Shoes with grip matter more than photo-friendly shoes.
✦Food choices are limited, so bring some water and a simple snack. Put a proper meal in Kaili, Leishan, or Xijiang.
✦Langde is not a night-view attraction and does not have Xijiang's full commercial setup. Do not come with the same expectations.
✦Ask before taking close-up photos of villagers, older people, children, or performers. If they decline, stop.
✦If choosing between Xijiang and Langde, choose Xijiang for night views and convenience; choose Langde for a shorter, quieter Miao-culture stop.
西江千户苗寨
