Place Qinglongdong inside your Zhenyuan Ancient Town route
Qinglongdong sits on the east side of Zhenyuan Ancient Town, near Zhusheng Bridge. It is not worth traveling from far away just for this one stop. The smoothest plan is to walk the Zhenyuan riverside and Zhusheng Bridge first, enter Qinglongdong, then return to the old streets or Wuyang River afterward.
Do not enter too late
Budget CNY 60 for the adult ticket, with small online discounts sometimes available. Several ticketing pages list relatively early entry cutoffs, so go in the morning or early afternoon instead of leaving it close to closing time.
Follow the uphill route to see the architectural layers
After entering, follow the scenic route upward through Wanshou Palace, Ziyang Academy, Zhongyuan Chan Hall, Qinglong Cave, and the riverside pavilions. The point is not one single cave, but a group of buildings built against the cliff.
Cross to the opposite riverbank for the full view afterward
Inside the complex, you see wooden structures, pavilions, and Wuyang River angles. To photograph the full cliffside view of Qinglongdong, go to the opposite riverbank or the Zhusheng Bridge area.
✦Qinglongdong is not part of the free old-town street area. It requires a separate ticket, so budget CNY 60.
✦Do not expect a natural cave attraction. The main value is the old architectural complex, religious spaces, and riverside cliff setting.
✦The steps are narrow and frequent. Older visitors, children, or anyone with knee issues should slow down.
✦Rain makes the stone steps slippery. Shoes with grip matter more than photo-friendly shoes.
✦If you only have one day in Zhenyuan, you do not need to visit both Qinglongdong and Shiping Mountain. Choose Qinglongdong for architecture and Shiping Mountain for the full view.
✦Entering too late in the afternoon will shorten the visit and also reduce time for Zhusheng Bridge and the riverside night view afterward.
✦Qinglongdong is better for slow detail-watching than a quick 20-minute stop.
