Book your train to Congjiang Railway Station
For Zhaoxing Dong Village, the easiest rail gateway is Congjiang Railway Station, not Congjiang County town or Liping bus station. From Guiyang North, the high-speed train to Congjiang takes about 1.5 hours. After arrival, take the scenic-area shuttle or a taxi, and allow about 10-15 minutes to reach the village area.
Handle the ticket and shuttle at the visitor center
The listed entrance ticket is CNY 80, and the scenic-area shuttle is listed at CNY 20 round trip. Private cars cannot drive into the core village area, so drivers need to park at the visitor center parking lot and transfer to the shuttle.
Start with the main street, riverside, and five drum towers
Zhaoxing does not need a rushed checklist. Walk along the main street and riverside, then connect the Ren, Yi, Li, Zhi, and Xin drum towers, wind-and-rain bridges, wooden stilt houses, and stream into one easy route.
Keep late afternoon and evening inside the village
In late afternoon, go to the viewing spot near the village gate for the full view. After dark, return to the drum towers and wind-and-rain bridges for an evening walk. If Dong Grand Song or a folk performance fits your timing, add it to the visit.
Decide on Tang'an the next day
Tang'an Terraces and Tang'an Dong Village work best as a second-day add-on. Travelers with average fitness can ride up, see the terraces and village, then ride back. Stronger walkers can choose a one-way hike and should plan 1.5-2.5 hours.
✦Budget for CNY 80 entrance plus CNY 20 round-trip shuttle. Online discounted tickets may be cheaper, but bundled items differ.
✦The village can be entered all day, but shuttles, workshops, restaurants, and performances do not run all day. Plan the main visit from daytime into evening.
✦Congjiang Railway Station is the better transfer point for visitors. Do not book a farther route just because the scenic area belongs administratively to Liping.
✦Wooden guesthouses usually have basic sound insulation. Light sleepers should avoid rooms facing the main street, bars, or performance areas.
✦Large luggage can be inconvenient inside the village. Before booking, ask whether the guesthouse can pick you up or help carry bags.
✦For the Tang'an hike, wear shoes with grip, bring water, and use sun protection. Rain makes paths and field edges harder to walk.
✦Tie-dye, batik, travel photos, and craft experiences vary in price. Ask about duration, finished product, and extra charges before paying.
