Longli Ancient City

First decide whether Longli is actually on your route

Longli Ancient City is in Longli Township, Jinping County, and it is more remote than Zhenyuan, Kaili, or Zhaoxing. It works best if you are already doing a deeper eastern Qiandongnan route by self-driving or private transfer from Jinping, Liping, Sansui, or nearby areas. It is not worth a long detour from Kaili or Zhenyuan just for one old town.

Arrange arrival and return transport before you go

From Jinping County town to Longli, the road trip takes about 40 minutes. Local buses exist, but schedules and transfers are not very friendly for overseas visitors. A self-drive route, private transfer, or a car arranged by your lodging in Jinping or Liping is steadier.

Enter the old city free, then check individual venues

Current visitor-facing information can treat ordinary entry to Longli Ancient City as free. You can walk the lanes, gates, city wall, Wugong Street, and surrounding village space without planning a main entrance ticket. Some halls, museums, or events may keep their own opening hours.

Follow one slow route through the military-town layout

Enter from the East Gate or main entrance, then walk Longbiao Academy, Guanyin Hall, Wugong Street, clan halls, drum tower, old city wall, and North Gate. Longli is compact, and most visitors can cover the core area in 2-3 hours.

Keep expectations realistic for services

Longli is not very commercial. That quietness is part of the appeal, but food, lodging, cafes, and guiding services are less mature than in popular old towns. If staying overnight, choose an old-house guesthouse inside the city or a village guesthouse outside, but expect simpler facilities.
