A large mountain-and-sea area
Laoshan covers a large area and is not a single attraction that can be completed from one entrance. The South Route usually starts at Dahedong Visitor Service Center, while Beijiushui requires entry through Beijiushui Visitor Service Center. On a first visit, choosing one main route for the day is more practical.
The South Route and visit length
First-time visitors can allow about 5–6 hours for the Taiqing–Yangkou South Route. A South Route combination ticket has previously been arranged at CNY 130, including the CNY 40 sightseeing shuttle and valid for two days; Taiqing Palace costs about CNY 27 extra, and cable cars are separate. Prices and validity follow the ticket arrangement on the day. In peak season from April to October, the area usually opens 07:00–17:30; July and August may have extended evening hours according to the day's schedule.

Taiqing Bay and Taiqing Palace
Taiqing Bay combines mountain-and-sea views, a coastal boardwalk and Taoist architecture. Taiqing Palace is an optional stop within the South Route, using the South Route's entry and internal transport arrangements. You can enter to see ancient trees, halls and the statue of Laozi, or stay around the exterior and coastal path.
Yangkou Tianyuan and Qing Shan Fishing Village
Yangkou is suited to views of Yangkou Bay, the coastline and Tianyuan Viewpoint; a one-way cable car can reduce the amount of uphill walking. Qing Shan Fishing Village near the mountain pass has red-tiled stone houses, tea fields and sea views. It is on a different visiting direction from Beijiushui and Jufeng, so do not try to link all of them into one day.

The 5–6 hour Taiqing–Yangkou route
From Dahedong Visitor Service Center, take the scenic shuttle and get off at Bashuihe. Follow the coastal boardwalk toward Taiqing Palace and enter the palace if you want to visit it. Continue by shuttle to the mountain pass, transfer toward Yangkou, and use the one-way cable car to climb if desired. From the upper cable-car station, choose either the narrow Mitian Cave route or the Changshou Road route to reach Tianyuan Viewpoint.
Route and climbing choices
Choose only one main route for the day: the South Route, Beijiushui, Jufeng or another area. The uphill stairs between Taiqing Palace and the mountain pass are numerous; the sightseeing shuttle and cable car suit visitors who want to limit the amount of climbing. Check the last shuttle time after entry and work backward from it when setting the summit route.
Get there
Dahedong South Route entrance
Take Metro Line 4 to Dahedong Station; Exit A leads to Dahedong Visitor Service Center. This is the access point for Taiqing, Huayan and Yangkou directions. The scenic shuttle links different stops inside the area; Beijiushui and Yangkou have their own access and parking arrangements.
Beijiushui and driving
For Beijiushui, go to Beijiushui Visitor Service Center. For Yangkou, navigate to Yangkou Scenic Area Parking Lot. During peak periods, driving into the mountains may require arrangements under the scenic area's traffic policy. Public transport and the scenic shuttle make the schedule easier to manage.

Tickets and the last shuttle
The South Route ticket, sightseeing shuttle, Taiqing Palace admission and cable car are calculated separately. Prices and validity can change with the day's arrangement. The area is large and the return depends on the scenic shuttle and outside transport. Check the last-shuttle time after entering Taiqing or Yangkou, then set the climbing route around the time remaining.
Caves and mountain-path safety
Mitian Cave is narrow and damp, and some sections require using both hands and feet. Older visitors, anyone afraid of heights or enclosed spaces, and visitors with limited mobility can use Changshou Road instead. After rain, stairs and boardwalks may be slippery, so wear shoes with good grip. If the cave route does not suit your physical condition, use Changshou Road and stay on the safe path.
