Choose your visit

Polar Gallery and whale-and-dolphin show

The Polar Gallery has polar bears, penguins and beluga whales, as well as the Science Magic Show and an ancient marine-beast exhibition. The marine whale-and-dolphin show usually features belugas, dolphins and false killer whales. Show times follow the day's arrangement and suit families and first-time ocean-park visitors.

Jellyfish tunnel and dome cinema

The Deep Sea Fantasy gallery has a jellyfish tunnel that works well for photos; the blue-and-purple displays retain their color even in the dim indoor light. The 360-degree dome cinema can be a mid-visit rest or final stop. The marine Ferris wheel is another queue-based outdoor activity that should be chosen according to the weather.

Build your day

The 4–5 hour complete route

After entry, start at the Polar Gallery and see the polar bears, penguins, belugas and indoor displays. Arrive 20–30 minutes early for the whale-and-dolphin show according to its schedule. Then visit the Deep Sea Fantasy gallery for the jellyfish tunnel and mermaid show, and finish at the dome cinema. Add Ice and Snow World and feeding activities according to your budget.

The approximately 1.5-hour short route

When time is limited, go directly to the Polar Gallery and Deep Sea Fantasy gallery, focusing on the belugas, jellyfish tunnel and main photo areas. Skip some shows and optional activities, then leave according to the rest of your day's schedule.

Get there

Metro and bus

Take Metro Line 2 to Haiyou Road Station and walk about 10 minutes from Exit B. Buses 11 and 317, among others, stop at “Polar Ocean World.”

Parking and movement inside

Parking is tight in July and August and on holidays; the fee is about CNY 10 per hour. Public transport is easier. The park is mainly indoors, but moving between galleries, queueing and entering shows still involves walking. Bring water and a small snack when traveling with children.

Know before you go

Show and evening schedules

The whale-and-dolphin show, mermaid show, dome film and evening opening can change from day to day. Check the schedule after entering before deciding whether to start with a gallery or show. Arrive 20–30 minutes early for popular shows; the front rows may get splashed.

Animals and photography

The galleries are dim, and areas with animals generally do not suit flash or fill lights. Crowds are heavier around midday and on holidays. For photos of belugas or the jellyfish tunnel, enter soon after opening or visit after 15:00 to avoid the peak.
