An aerial route between the new and old city
Taiping Mountain Sightseeing Cableway runs through the Shinan District area around Taiping Mountain, with Zhanshan Temple, Taiping Mountain and Zhongshan Park stations. Zhanshan Temple Station is suited to views over Fushan Bay and the sea, while Zhongshan Park Station is close to Yulan Meadow. A complete one-way ride takes about 1–1.5 hours; a short ride takes about 40 minutes.
Tickets and weather
A one-way ticket is about CNY 80 for two sections; a full-route ticket is about CNY 150 for four sections round trip. In peak season, around July and August, it usually opens 08:00–20:00. Heavy rain and other severe weather may stop operations; online discounts and the day's departures follow the station arrangement.

Fushan Bay and old-town red roofs
The Zhanshan Temple–Taiping Mountain section looks over Fushan Bay's high-rises, the sea and the area around Zhanshan Temple. The Taiping Mountain–Zhongshan Park section is better for red-tiled old-town roofs and green spaces. The open seats provide continuously changing views, making the ride suitable for city scenery and photography.
A lighter mountain-and-sea experience
The cableway reduces the need for a long hike and suits visitors who want a Qingdao panorama without planning a major mountain climb. The seats are open, so wind and height are noticeable. Visitors afraid of heights, young children and anyone wearing loose clothing should decide whether the ride is suitable.
Build your day
The 1–1.5 hour one-way route
Board at Zhanshan Temple Station, transfer at Taiping Mountain Station and finish at Zhongshan Park Station. Along the way, look out for the sea, the new-city skyline and the old-town roofs. Return by the same cableway or walk down from Zhongshan Park; decide how you will return before setting out.
The approximately 40-minute short route
Buy a one-way ticket from Zhanshan Temple Station to Taiping Mountain Station, pause briefly there, then take the cableway back in the same direction. The return ride gives a better view of Fushan Bay's towers and the TV tower. At each station, board and leave quickly according to staff instructions.
Get there
Metro and stations
Take Metro Line 2 to Zhiquan Road Station or Line 3 to Zhongshan Park Station, then walk about 10–15 minutes to the corresponding entrance. Zhanshan Temple Station is near the botanical garden, while Zhongshan Park Station is inside Zhongshan Park; they are different entrances.
Bus and parking
Buses stop at “Zhongshan Park” or “Zhanshan Temple.” If driving, navigate to “Qingdao TV Tower Taiping Mountain Road Parking Lot.” Taiping Mountain Station is across from the parking lot, but you still need to walk to the boarding point.
Know before you go
Opening and weather closures
Peak-season hours are usually 08:00–20:00, but heavy rain and other severe weather may close the cableway. One-way and full-route tickets cover different numbers of rides. When buying, confirm whether you need to return to the original station and whether all sections are operating that day.
Boarding and clothing
The cableway uses moving boarding and alighting. Follow staff instructions and keep your hands and feet within the seat area. Open seats can be windy. Take extra care when traveling with young children, if you are afraid of heights, or if you wear a skirt or loose clothing; keep a stable seated position while taking photos.
