Entry, tickets and hours
Qiqihar Museum (齐齐哈尔博物馆) is at No. 1 Zhonghua Road in Jianhua District. The former Heilongjiang Governor’s Office (黑龙江督军署) is on the north side of the same compound; enter through the museum. Both are free to visit. The museum’s reference hours are Tuesday–Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with last entry at 4:00 p.m.; it is closed on Mondays, except on public holidays. Check whether booking is required, how to register and which documents are accepted. International visitors should confirm in advance whether a passport or other document can be used to book and enter.
Visit length and scope
Allow about 30–40 minutes or longer to see the main third-floor exhibition and enter the Governor’s Office site. If you first visit the exhibitions open on the first floor, then see the full third-floor exhibition and the historic site in the courtyard, allow about 1.5–2 hours. The Governor’s Office’s last entry time and the rooms open to visitors have not been confirmed together; ask before deciding your route.

“Stories of Nenjiang Civilization”
The third-floor exhibition “Stories of Nenjiang Civilization” (嫩江文明的述说) follows the history of the Nenjiang River region, from Ang’angxi culture to modern local history. Look for highlights such as a white-agate arrowhead with a concave base, an Eastern Han bronze seal inscribed “Kong Huan,” and a Liao-dynasty white-glazed plum vase to see how local culture changed over time.
The former Heilongjiang Governor’s Office
The compound has grey-brick buildings with grey tiles, a main building and east and west side wings. The archway bears the inscriptions “Jing Wen” and “Wei Wu.” The second floor of the main building has reconstructed displays related to Ma Zhanshan and the Jiangqiao Resistance. Which rooms are open varies by day; take time to look at the historic architecture, and check the day’s notice for any theatre performances.

Visitors interested in archaeology and local history along the Nenjiang can see the museum exhibitions before exploring the modern-era historic buildings at the Governor’s Office. If time is limited, prioritize the third-floor exhibition and the parts of the main building open that day. Temporary exhibitions and performances are optional.

Short visit: third-floor exhibition and the Governor’s Office
Register at the entrance, then go to the third floor to see the history of the Nenjiang region and the key artifacts. Return to the ground floor and enter the Governor’s Office through the courtyard passage beside the exit. Allow at least 30–40 minutes. Before setting out, ask staff which parts of the Governor’s Office are open and when last entry is.
Full visit: modern history, ancient history and the historic site
Start with any first-floor exhibitions open that day, continue to the main third-floor exhibition, then take the courtyard passage to the Governor’s Office. Allow about 1.5–2 hours. If a temporary exhibition has closed or part of the Governor’s Office is closed, adjust your visit to the areas open and avoid retracing your steps.
Walking through the courtyard and photography
The walk from the museum to the historic site crosses an outdoor courtyard. Bring water on sunny or hot days and take breaks as needed. The museum’s first-floor lobby has a large relief wall, while the Governor’s Office corridors and courtyard offer architectural details to look at. When taking photos near entrances, keep the flow of visitors moving; follow exhibition signs for indoor photography.

Bus and taxi
From the city, buses 101 and 106 serve the area around the “Museum” stop; routes 13 and 107 also have nearby stops. Check routes and stops before setting out. A taxi from Qiqihar Railway Station takes about 15 minutes to No. 1 Zhonghua Road. Navigate to the museum entrance, then follow the signs inside the compound to the Governor’s Office.
Driving and parking in the compound
Free parking is available in the compound, but spaces are limited and may be full at busy times. Follow on-site directions when you arrive. If there is no space, take a bus or taxi instead.
Know before you go
Closing day and last entry
The museum is closed on Mondays, and its reference last-entry time is 4:00 p.m.; the Governor’s Office record lists 4:30 p.m. Plan around the earlier 4:00 p.m. time. At the entrance, confirm which rooms at the Governor’s Office are open and its last-entry time. The courtyard may be open even when individual exhibition halls are closed.
Rest and nearby visits
Parking in the compound is limited, and there is an outdoor walk between the museum and the historic site. Bring water in summer and avoid the strongest midday sun. Bu Kui Mosque is another historic building that can be visited separately; it is outside the museum compound and requires its own transport and visit plan.
