Location and admission
Guifeng is in Yiyang County, Shangrao. Use “Yiyang Guifeng Scenic Area Visitor Center” as the navigation target. After leaving Yiyang Railway Station, take the double-decker tourist bus or a taxi for about 15–20 minutes; self-drive parking costs about CNY 10 per visit.
The main sights are Danxia peaks, pictographic rocks, shaded paths and Guifeng Lake. The three routes take about 2.5 hours, 3.5 hours or 4–5 hours, so choose between sightseeing-car, walking and boat sections based on the group's energy and interests.
Tickets and seasonal hours
The main ticket is CNY 60, the sightseeing car is about CNY 20 for a round trip, and the boat is optional. From July 7 through October 31, 2026, hours are about 07:00–17:00 with last admission at 16:00. From November 1 through March 31, hours are about 07:30–17:00 with last admission at 16:00. Follow the current notice when the seasonal schedule changes.
From January 1 through December 31, 2026, the scenic area is running a free-admission activity for visitors who recite a designated excerpt from Fang Zhimin's *The Lovely China*: complete the recitation and on-site review within the prescribed 15-minute period. Insurance of about CNY 5, the sightseeing car, boat and other fees remain separate. Recheck whether it continues from 2027 onwards; budget the main ticket at CNY 60 first.

Danxia pictographic rocks and the glass walkway
Guifeng is known for Danxia rock formations resembling a tortoise, a camel and other shapes. The glass walkway occupies sections along the cliffs and works for photographing the path lines and depth of the rock faces. Visitors uncomfortable with heights can choose the alternative path indicated on site.
Xiake Gudao (霞客古道) and shaded walking
Xiake Gudao connects several sights and is relatively gentle in places. Its shade and misting system make this section more comfortable for a slower summer walk. At the top of Jinzhong Feng (金钟峰), a colourful rocking horse can be framed with the Danxia peaks; the climb suits visitors who enjoy photography and long views.
Guifeng Lake and the boat
From Guifeng Lake, a boat can show the Danxia peaks and reflections from the water. Whether the boat operates, its stops, timetable and last departure follow the day. If you choose the full route, include the lake section and summit climb in the estimate; the land walking time is only part of the visit.
Build your day
Shengui Route (神龟线): about 2.5 hours
From the Visitor Center, take the sightseeing car past Zhanqi Feng (展旗峰), Yixiantian (一线天), Sisheng Gu (四声谷), Jiangjun Lou (将军楼) and Haohan Po (好汉坡), then take the sightseeing car back. The route has more level walking and less climbing, and suits a short visit focused on the pictographic rocks and canyon passages.
Sightseeing cars may queue during holidays. After arrival, confirm the boarding point and return departures. If the stop is crowded, ask whether the lake section or a different entry order is operating that day.
Xiake route: about 3.5 hours
From the Visitor Center, walk past Shengui Yingbin (神龟迎宾), Xiake Gudao and Tiannü Sanhua (天女散花), then continue to Jiangjun Lou and Haohan Po, cross the glass walkway and finish at Guifeng Lake. The approximately 3.5-hour route combines shaded paths, steep sections, cliffside scenery and the water.
The stops on the Xiake route are spread along one continuous section, so follow them in order and leave from the Guifeng Lake side. Wear shoes with good grip and carry water; shorten the number of stops if the stairs or high sections are too demanding for someone in the group.
Full route: about 4–5 hours
Take the sightseeing car from the Visitor Center to Suochun Dong (锁春洞), then climb Luotuo Feng (骆驼峰). Continue past the glass walkway and Jinzhong Feng, and choose the boat for the return. The full route takes about 4–5 hours; the summit, cliffside walk and boat all add time.
Before setting out, confirm whether the boat is sailing, its return pier and last departure. If the water section is closed, switch to the Shengui or Xiake route; the boat is not a guaranteed return service.
Get there
Yiyang Railway Station and driving
Yiyang Railway Station has a double-decker tourist bus to the Visitor Center, or you can take a taxi for about 15–20 minutes. By car, navigate to “Yiyang Guifeng Scenic Area Visitor Center,” where parking costs about CNY 10 per visit. Choose the sightseeing car or walking route from the Visitor Center after parking.
The Visitor Center is the common starting point for all three routes, but the sightseeing-car, glass-walkway and boat choices differ along the way. Look at the route map and the day's boat and vehicle arrangements before buying optional services.
Know before you go
Steps, sun and children
Not every Guifeng route is gentle. The Xiake and full routes include steps, slopes and summit sections, and the scenic area is unsuitable for strollers. With young children, use an arrangement that allows easier carrying and support; in summer, bring sun and insect protection.
On the glass walkway, follow crowd-control and safety instructions, and do not cross the railings to take photos. The climbs at Jinzhong Feng and other high sections require longer continuous walking; visitors with limited stamina should prioritise the Shengui Route.
Queues, food and the recitation activity
Sightseeing cars may queue during holidays, and the boat depends on its timetable. Choose the route around the day's vehicle and boat times. Food options outside are limited; you can look for Yiyang rice cakes and Guifeng braised pork, or return to the county town for a meal after leaving.
The 2026 recitation activity requires the designated excerpt to be recited and reviewed on site within the prescribed 15-minute period. Insurance of about CNY 5, the sightseeing car and boat remain separate, and the policy should be rechecked from 2027 onwards. Confirm the main ticket, vehicle, boat and activity eligibility separately, then keep the return plan tied to the route that is operating.
