Location and entrance
Jiangwan is on Yunwan Road in Jiangwan Town, Wuyuan County. The recommended entrance is the South Gate. By car, navigate to “Jiangwan Scenic Area—South Gate Ground Parking Lot”; parking there puts you close to the main gate, while navigating to the more distant Visitor Center creates a longer walk.
From Wuyuan Railway Station, a tourist shuttle takes about 40 minutes. The main sights are Jiangwan Paifang (江湾牌坊, ceremonial archway), the ancestral hall, Guchui Hall and Lizi Lane; Houlong Mountain is an optional section with extra climbing, and a complete visit takes about 2–3 hours.
Ticket and opening hours
The single-entry ticket is currently about CNY 60; check the booking page for your date. Current hours are about 08:00–17:30, with last admission shown at around 17:00; booking online in advance is recommended. A Wuyuan 12-attraction, 5-day pass is also available at about CNY 180, but confirm its current coverage, dates and reservation requirements before buying.
Jiangwan works well for daytime architectural details. You can also climb Houlong Mountain in the later afternoon for a village view, but descend ahead of the day's closing time. Folk activities and the Jiangwan Banquet performance, including whether a separate ticket is needed, follow the day's programme.

Ancestral hall and Huizhou carving
Xiaojiang Ancestral Hall is Jiangwan's architectural centrepiece, with wood, brick and stone carving details and a sense of the scale of a Huizhou ancestral hall from the main building. Visitors interested in family history, traditional architecture and decorative craft can make this the main stop.
Guchui Hall, Jiangwan Paifang and Lizi Lane each offer a different view. The paifang works as an entrance panorama, Guchui Hall combines historic architecture with a performance space, and Lizi Lane is better for photographing stone paving, horse-head walls and lane lines.
Houlong Mountain village views
Houlong Mountain has a climbing path and viewpoints looking down over Jiangwan and the surrounding valleys. It is useful for wide views and late-afternoon light; visitors with limited energy or a purely architectural focus can leave it as an optional section.
Choosing between the building route and the climb
The paifang, ancestral hall, Guchui Hall and Lizi Lane keep the visit focused on historic buildings and details. Adding Houlong Mountain changes the view from indoor woodcarving to a village panorama and increases the walking effort. With parents, or when Jiangwan is one of several eastern-route stops, complete the building route first and climb only if time remains.

Build your day
South Gate to Lizi Lane main route
Enter through the South Gate, see Jiangwan Paifang first, then follow the sequence Jiangwan Paifang → Xiaojiang Ancestral Hall → Guchui Hall → Lizi Lane. Separate the close look at the ancestral hall's carvings from the street photography in Lizi Lane; the main route takes about 2 hours.
If a holiday group is gathering, visit the ancestral hall and Guchui Hall first, then return to the paifang for photos. Follow the on-site arrangement for photography or performances; lighting and activities inside Guchui Hall can change during the day.
2–3-hour route with Houlong Mountain
After Lizi Lane, follow the signs to Houlong Mountain, climb to the viewpoint and return to the main scenic-area route. The extra steps and ascent make the route more comfortable at about 2–3 hours when you also want village panoramas, the old camphor tree and late-afternoon light on the rooftops.
Descend towards the South Gate; the parking lot is close to the entrance. If you are continuing to Huangling, Likeng or another eastern-route attraction, check each stop's hours, parking and ticket arrangements separately.
Get there
Public transport and driving
The tourist shuttle from Wuyuan Railway Station to Jiangwan takes about 40 minutes. When driving, use “Jiangwan Scenic Area—South Gate Ground Parking Lot” as the navigation target; it is more practical than using “Visitor Center,” which does not identify the entrance-side parking area.
After parking, walk towards the paifang and ancestral-hall area; most movement inside is on foot. Houlong Mountain is an additional uphill section, and a vehicle cannot replace that walk. Visitors with older adults or children should decide whether to include it based on the group's walking ability.
Know before you go
Crowds, shopping and photography
Festivals may bring folk performances and tour groups, while weekdays have no stable schedule for doufu racks or Nuo-dance shows. Some stalls selling unpackaged herbs may attract customers through bargaining and smelling samples; with older companions, it is reasonable to walk past and avoid products with an unclear source.
The ancestral hall, Guchui Hall and Lizi Lane are best photographed for their textures and spatial lines. Slanting light around 09:00–10:00 or 15:00–16:00 can reveal the woodcarving more clearly. Houlong Mountain is better in the later afternoon for angled light, and you must finish the descent before closing.
Food and pass checks
Huizhou Flavor Kitchen or Jiang Family Farmhouse Restaurant outside the scenic area are possible full-meal stops before or after the visit. Opening hours and waiting times change, so confirm them before setting out.
Check the Wuyuan pass's price and covered attractions on the purchase page. Jiangwan, Likeng and Huangling each have their own entrance and route, so calculate arrival and departure time for each stop.
Overseas visitors buying the Wuyuan 12-attraction, 5-day pass should select the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas visitor ticket category. The current product page indicates that this ticket requires an on-site exchange, so the no-exchange admission process for a Chinese resident ID card does not apply.
