Location and mountain access
Huangling is on Provincial Road 346 in Jiangwan Town, Wuyuan County. Most visitors enter through the Visitor Center. There is no road to the village on the mountain, so the cableway is the main way to reach the core settlement; getting to the Visitor Center is only the start of the visit, and you should also account for cableway queues and the ride up and down.
From Wuyuan Railway Station, follow the signs to the passenger transport hub and take the tourist shuttle. The ride takes about 40–50 minutes and costs about CNY 19. If you plan to stay for the evening programme, confirm the return cableway arrangements soon after entering the scenic area.
Tickets and opening hours
The current ticketing page lists the scenic area at about 08:30–21:30, with the A Cableway operating at about 08:00–21:30. The B Cableway is currently not open to the public. The adult admission-and-round-trip-cableway combo is about CNY 145 on regular dates. Official 2026 peak-season pricing lists the same combo at CNY 165 on designated peak dates, including the Spring Festival, rapeseed-flower season, May Day, National Day and some autumn weekends. After buying online, follow the ticketing instructions to exchange it for a paper ticket on site using the registered phone number. The ticket is valid for one entry on the day of purchase.
With these hours, you can combine the village during the day with evening programmes, but staying for the night view depends on the day's programme and the A Cableway's last departure.

Shaiqiu and Drying Workshop (晒工坊)
Shaiqiu (晒秋) is the village's signature display of drying trays, crops and layered rooftops. Colours are usually richer from about September to December. The Drying Workshop has three floors, and the third floor gives the clearest view for fitting the village, distant mountains and drying trays into one frame.
The Drying Workshop usually has more oblique light from about 16:00–17:15, which brings out the colours of the drying trays. Staff may begin taking the trays in from about 17:30. Queues can approach 40 minutes at busy times, so anyone wanting the full display should visit before the afternoon collection begins.
Wuguitang and Sky Street (天街)
Wuguitang's window-view photo spot layers the window frame, the drying displays and the distant mountains in one composition. About half an hour after sunset, the blue hour works well for the contrast between warm lights and the cooler sky. It is a popular spot, and queues commonly take about 30 minutes.
Sky Street is an approximately 388-metre Ming-and-Qing stone-paved street lined with Huizhou buildings, shops and snacks. It is a good place to slow down for street details and food, and it gives you a ground-level experience that differs from the Drying Workshop overlook.
Huaxi Water Street and Leixin Bridge
Huaxi Water Street follows the water, with streams and mist suited to close-ups, portraits and architectural details. Leixin Bridge is a suspension glass bridge with views over the terraces and valley; morning or late-afternoon mist and angled light can change the result considerably.
The Patriotic Wall (爱国墙) and the old village lanes work as nearby architecture and people-watching photo stops. Huangling suits visitors who want to see the village displays in depth and are comfortable with steps and queues more than visitors seeking a quiet, undeveloped rural setting.

A Cableway highlights route
After entering, take the A Cableway up. Start at the Drying Workshop, then visit Wuguitang, and continue along Sky Street towards Huaxi Water Street and Leixin Bridge. Keep the Drying Workshop photography around 16:00, the Wuguitang queue and a food stop on Sky Street as separate parts of the plan; this section takes about 2–3 hours.
After Leixin Bridge, follow the scenic-area route back to the A Cableway for the descent. The B Cableway is currently closed; if it reopens, adjust the route according to the official notice. For evening visits, check the A Cableway's last departure, since maintenance or a temporary operating change can affect the return.
Short village route and return
If you only want the village, take the A Cableway up, concentrate on the Drying Workshop, Wuguitang and Sky Street, then return to the A Cableway by the same route. This avoids the terrace direction and suits visitors with limited time or anyone who does not want to include the glass bridge.
For an evening visit, the Light Forest, lantern-dragon procession and other programmes follow the day's schedule. Plan to descend by the A Cableway, but check the last-departure notice after entering because maintenance or a temporary operating change can alter the return; evening programmes are not held every day.
Get there
From Wuyuan Railway Station to the Visitor Center
The passenger transport hub at Wuyuan Railway Station has a tourist shuttle to the Huangling Visitor Center. The fare is about CNY 19 and the ride takes about 40–50 minutes. By car or ride-hailing, use “Huangling Visitor Center” as the navigation target; the actual village entrance is above the cableway.
Huangling and Jiangwan are close enough to combine, with a driving reference of about 10 minutes. Their entrances, parking, tickets, cableways and admission arrangements are separate, so plan each stop on its own.
Moving around the mountain village
Once you are up, most sights are connected on foot by stone paths, narrow lanes and steps. The area around Leixin Bridge has open views but still follows the on-site route; visitors with limited mobility should confirm the accessible sections available that day.
Know before you go
Queues, drying displays and photography
The cableway, Wuguitang and Drying Workshop can all queue on weekends and holidays, while narrow lanes become crowded when groups arrive together. To reduce the crowds, go up soon after the A Cableway begins operating; if the drying-tray colours are your priority, reach the relevant photo spots before the afternoon collection begins.
Popular positions at Wuguitang and the Drying Workshop may require waiting. Follow the on-site movement rules while taking photos; high heels are unsuitable for the glass bridge, narrow lanes and steps, and wet weather or heavy crowds call for slower walking.
Food and same-day checks
Sky Street has snacks and places for a short break. After descending, Xiaoxiang Renjia and Youyuan Restaurant outside the scenic area are possible meal stops. If you combine Huangling with Wunvzhou or Jiangwan, check closing, cableway and shuttle times before deciding whether to continue.
