An easy canyon walk south of Muyu
Tiansheng Bridge is about 10 kilometres south of Muyu Town, with the entrance beside the car park marked “Tiansheng Bridge Scenic Area”. The main route follows a stream and wooden boardwalks. The natural stone arch, waterfalls and pools are concentrated in the first section, making this a good half-day or light-hiking stop around Muyu.
The area is usually covered by the CNY 299 per person, five-day Shennongjia six-area pass; single-entry pricing varies by visit date, so check the current ticket price when booking. Current seasonal hours are about 07:30–17:30 from April 1 to October 7 and 08:00–17:00 from October 8 to March 31. Entry may stop at 16:30, so confirm the day’s final-entry time before setting out. Check the Shennongjia scenic-area WeChat account before setting out, and overseas visitors should confirm a ticket route that accepts foreign passports.
How much time to allow
Walking to Tiansheng Bridge, Yingtan (鹰潭, “Eagle Pool”) and Niutan (牛潭, “Ox Pool”) before returning takes about one hour. The complete loop through Jiuquan Yougu (九泉幽谷, “Nine Springs Valley”) and Lanhua Shan (兰花山, “Orchid Mountain”) takes about two hours. Older visitors, young children and anyone avoiding a long walk can turn back at Hutan (虎潭, “Tiger Pool”) after about one hour; see the core water scenery first, then decide whether to continue.

Waterfalls, pools and the stone bridge
Tiansheng Bridge is a natural stone arch with Tianquan Feipu (天泉飞瀑, a waterfall) below it. Yingtan, Niutan and Hutan are arranged along the valley, while Jiuquan Yougu includes other pools such as Yangtan (羊潭, “Sheep Pool”). The waterside boardwalks, the bridge opening and the area below the waterfall are the main photography spots; water volume and wet rock after rain can affect the walk.
The route also includes Baren Buluo (巴人部落, a Ba cultural village), a wine cellar and an oil-press workshop. Visitors who like scenery and short walks can stay in the first section; those wanting the full valley and cultural displays should allow two hours. When time is tight, make Tiansheng Bridge and the front pools the priority.
Which route suits your group?
Photographers can spend longer around Yingtan, Niutan and the waterfall pools, but stay on the boardwalk and within designated viewing areas while taking pictures. Older visitors, young children and anyone avoiding a long walk can turn back at Hutan; visitors with more energy can continue around Jiuquan Yougu.

About one-hour quick route
Follow the main path from the entrance to Tiansheng Bridge, the main waterfall area, Yingtan and Niutan, then return the same way. This concentrates the main water scenery in the first section and works well if you plan to visit Shennong Altar or Guanmen Mountain later in the afternoon. Enter before the 16:30 stop-entry time.
About two-hour complete loop
From the entrance, pass Baren Buluo and Tiansheng Bridge, then continue through Jiuquan Yougu to Yangtan, Hutan and Tutan (兔潭, “Rabbit Pool”) before returning via Lanhua Shan. The loop is about 2.6 kilometres. The later section has more commercial stalls, so set your pace according to your interests and complete the loop at a comfortable walking speed.
Easier route for older visitors and children
Walk from the entrance to Hutan and turn back, taking about one hour. The route is shorter and easier to control. If the boardwalk becomes slippery or crowded, or someone in the group is tiring, return to the entrance instead of continuing deeper into Jiuquan Yougu.

Driving and navigation
From Muyu Town, drive about 10 kilometres and navigate to “Tiansheng Bridge Scenic Area”; a car park is beside the entrance. The mountain road has many bends, so slow down when entering or leaving the car park and scenic-area entrance. Visitors without a car should arrange a hired car in advance, as searching for a vehicle at the end can affect the return journey.
Peak-period parking and nearby combinations
The car park is limited, and spaces and the entrance can become congested during holidays and peak periods. Aim to arrive before 08:00 when possible. Tiansheng Bridge can share a day with Shennong Altar and Guanmen Mountain, but each area has its own entry, walking route and parking, so leave time for the transfers between them.
Know before you go
Boardwalks, slippery surfaces and photography
The 2.6-kilometre wooden boardwalk is not especially steep, but the complete route requires continuous walking. Water and moss can make rocks, bridge edges and boards slippery; wear shoes with good grip. When photographing near the pools, stay behind barriers and off wet rocks.
The entrance may have a queue in peak periods, and commercial stalls farther along the route can change the walking rhythm. Entry stops after 16:30. If rain becomes heavier or the path turns slippery, use the front-section return route; start the complete loop while there is still plenty of time to get back.
Water and meals
Food choices inside the scenic area are limited. Bring water and simple snacks from Muyu Town, where it is more convenient to eat after the visit.
