Plan at a glance
Choose a branch first
Mingliu Teahouse has several branches, and the Xinhua Road and Ancient Culture Street branches should be checked separately. The Xinhua Road branch is at 177 Xinhua Road in Heping District and works well with the Five Great Avenues, Porcelain House, and Zhang Xueliang Former Residence. The Ancient Culture Street branch suits Tianhou Temple, Ancient Culture Street, and a Haihe walk. The two branches have separate addresses, sessions, prices, and surrounding routes; follow the specific branch named in the ticket order.
Tickets and sessions
Tickets are around CNY60–110. Each branch may have two or three sessions daily, often in the afternoon and evening. Platforms such as Damai and Maoyan show the current sessions, seats, and refund or change rules. A crosstalk performance is a reserved and ticketed experience, not a free all-day teahouse activity. After buying, check the exact branch, entry time, and late-arrival policy.

Choose your visit
Traditional crosstalk in a close setting
Teahouse seating is usually closer to the stage than in a theatre, allowing the audience to see performers’ expressions and live interaction. It suits crosstalk fans and visitors who want to experience Tianjin’s performing-arts culture. The performers, programme, and interaction style vary by session and follow the day’s arrangements.
Seating and the audience experience
Check the seating map when buying. Front-centre seats are generally better for seeing the stage, while side and rear seats or places partly behind a pillar have different sightlines; the first row may also require looking upward. Seating and table arrangements follow the branch and session, so the seating characteristics of the Xinhua Road branch do not apply to the Ancient Culture Street branch.
Build your day
Xinhua Road branch route
Visit the Five Great Avenues, Porcelain House, or Zhang Xueliang Former Residence first, then arrive early for ticket checking at 177 Xinhua Road. A performance may last around two hours, but the exact length follows the programme. Afterward, return via Yingkou Road or the nearby commercial area. The Xinhua Road and Ancient Culture Street branches have different addresses and tickets and cannot be combined into one performance.
Ancient Culture Street branch route
Visit Ancient Culture Street, Tianhou Temple, or Tongqingli first, then enter the Ancient Culture Street branch according to the order. After the performance, you can walk along public roads toward the Tianjin Eye or the Haihe bank, but whether there is enough time depends on the actual end time and any reserved activity. The cruise, Ferris wheel, and crosstalk are separate tickets with separate reservation requirements.
Get there
Transport to the two branches
The Xinhua Road branch is about a 5–10 minute walk from Yingkou Road Station on Metro Lines 1 or 3. The Ancient Culture Street branch is about a 5–10 minute walk from Dongnanjiao Station on Line 4. After leaving the station, check the branch name, address, and entrance on the order rather than searching only for “Mingliu Teahouse” and going to whichever branch is closest.
Driving and leaving after the show
Parking is limited around both branches, so do not stop temporarily at the door. Arrange the metro, a ride-hailing car, or a legitimate car-park pickup before an evening performance ends. When the audience leaves together, decline unofficial rides or packages with unclear pricing offered outside the venue.
Know before you go
Venue rules
Tea, sunflower seeds, snacks, and outside-food rules follow the branch’s on-site requirements. Follow those rules. Mobile photography, recording, late entry, children’s tickets, and table spending follow the venue notice. During interaction, respect the performers and other audience members and do not interrupt the show.
Itinerary boundaries
The business status of the two branches and nearby restaurants may change, so check the order and branch notices in advance. Treat the crosstalk performance as a fixed time block and keep the opening, reservation, and return arrangements for the Five Great Avenues, residences, Ancient Culture Street, Tianjin Eye, and Haihe cruise separate.
Order check
After payment, save the branch, date, session, seat, and entry time. Check the performance location again before arrival; each order applies only to the branch that was booked.
Audience etiquette
Performers and audience members are close together. Respond to interaction as invited, do not heckle or touch performers or equipment, and keep phones on silent. Whether recording or photography is allowed follows the venue rules.
