Start with Ji'an's museum collections
The Ji'an Goguryeo Cultural Heritage Exhibition Center is referred to as “Ji'an Museum” in local government materials. It is part of the Goguryeo Heritage Sites Scenic Area, alongside the Gwanggaeto Stele, General's Tomb and Wandu Mountain City. If you are also visiting outdoor heritage sites that day, begin with the museum, then follow the municipal itinerary to the stele, tomb and mountain city. Arrange transport between these separate stops.

Make time for the gold seal
The gold seal bearing the inscription “Jin Goguryeo Guiyi Hou” (晋高句骊归义侯) was donated to Ji'an Museum in 2025 and displayed in its main exhibition hall during a collection ceremony in May 2026. The Western Jin court bestowed this title on a Goguryeo leader as a mark of political allegiance. Four bronze seals in the museum's collection provide further historical context. On arrival, check which gallery currently displays the gold seal.
Look for jade and roof tiles
Jade objects and roof tiles are also listed alongside the gold seal among the museum's displays. Use the exhibit labels to confirm their locations and whether they are on view that day.
See the eight-petal lotus-shaped building
The museum building is shaped like an eight-petal lotus and was designed by architect Qi Kang. Take in its shape from outside before entering. Follow the museum's instructions on photography indoors.

Follow the municipal route from the museum
From the museum, the Ji'an municipal itinerary continues to Changshou Tomb → Gwanggaeto Stele → Wandu Mountain City → Goguryeo Inner City Wall Ruins → Goguryeo Ruins Park. The route ends at the park, not back at the museum. If your car is parked by the museum, arrange a driver or return transfer in advance. The museum is closed on Mondays, while the three outdoor heritage sites remain open; visit the museum on another day.
Allow time by site type
Jilin's Goguryeo heritage study route recommends 40–60 minutes per stop. Use that as an initial estimate for heritage sites such as Changshou Tomb and the Gwanggaeto Stele; allow extra time for the climb at Wandu Mountain City and for travel between sites. Plan the Inner City Wall Ruins and Goguryeo Ruins Park separately rather than applying the same estimate. If time is short, choose the museum and one outdoor site instead of trying to fit all six stops into one day.
Visit the outdoor sites before the museum
Another Jilin tourism itinerary runs: Ji'an Morning Market → Changshou Tomb → Gwanggaeto Stele → Wandu Mountain City → lunch on Huopen Street → Ji'an's museum. The museum comes in the second half of the day, and the route finishes in Ji'an's urban area. Treat it as a reference itinerary and check site operations, transport and weather before setting out.

Connect through Tonghua
The Shenbai high-speed railway opened in September 2025 and passes through Tonghua. In June 2026, Jilin's transport authority published a proposal for a bus-style customized passenger service between Tonghua and Ji'an, with multiple pickup points. The notice lists 0435-963979 for route inquiries but gives no timetable or boarding locations. Call ahead to check whether the service is operating and where to board.
Navigate to the museum by name
In Ji'an, search for “Ji'an Museum.” An older provincial venue page places it at the junction of Jianshe Street and Yunshui Road and lists Route 6 to the City Government stop. That bus information is dated; confirm the current stop before relying on it.
