Ancient capital remains in a public park
Ji'an's municipal government describes Goguryeo Ruins Park as a memorial-style open park covering 46,300 square metres. A Jilin government report places it within the everyday urban setting of central Guonei City and notes large stones and excavated Goguryeo palace remains in the park. Visitors can observe the archaeological remains alongside the park's daily public use.
Distinguish the park from the wider city site
Guonei City was Goguryeo's second capital and its longest-running capital. Together with royal tombs and aristocratic graves, it forms part of the Goguryeo heritage landscape. Guonei City was included in the Capital Cities and Tombs of the Ancient Koguryo Kingdom World Heritage property, inscribed in 2004. This page focuses on the urban park and palace remains.

Read Guonei City's layout through the palace remains
Archaeological work identified two palace sites in Guonei City, with inner and outer walls. Roof tiles, bricks, pottery and tube tiles were also unearthed, and a Jilin government report mentions large stones in the park. These are archaeological remains: observe them from open paths and use the on-site explanations. Do not enter closed areas.
Notice the park's public facilities
Municipal information lists rockeries, landscape features, tennis courts, a basketball court and public fitness plazas. The park serves both as a heritage site and as a place for local recreation. Follow on-site management directions when facilities are in use; sports and fitness areas are public facilities, not archaeological displays.
Find cultural details on the surrounding streets
A Jilin government report also describes a replica mural corridor near Guonei City's southwest corner tower, along with Goguryeo-themed streetlights, bench details and public sculptures around Ji'an. These features are spread through nearby streets. Navigate to each location separately; they are not all inside the park.
For Ji'an's museum collections and gallery visit, see Ji'an Goguryeo Cultural Heritage Exhibition Center.
For the separate visits to Changshou Tomb, the Gwanggaeto Stele and Wandu Mountain City, see Goguryeo Heritage Sites (Ji'an).
Build your day
The cultural corridor extends from town into the hills
The Jilin government route links the former Jiwen Gate site (辑文门旧址) → Ji'an Morning Market → the former Jinjiang Gate site → the Yalu River walking path → the former Anwu Gate site → the west city wall site → the Wanbaoting tomb area → Wandu Mountain City → Goguryeo Ruins Park. Wandu Mountain City lies in the hills north of town; a government report gives a drive of about 10 minutes from Ji'an Museum. Arrange a vehicle and time for walking uphill. This is a multi-stop reference route, not a verified walking itinerary.
Finish a multi-site heritage day at the park
Another Ji'an municipal itinerary starts at Ji'an Museum, then visits Changshou Tomb, the Gwanggaeto Stele, Wandu Mountain City and the Guonei City Wall Ruins, ending at Goguryeo Ruins Park. The stops are spread between the city and its outskirts. Arrange vehicle transfers in that order and plan the return trip from the final stop.
Keep a park-only visit flexible
For a visit to the park alone, follow the paths and explanations open that day. If you also plan to see the wall ruins, Wandu Mountain City or the tomb area, set each as a separate navigation destination and allow for travel between central Ji'an and the outskirts.
Get there
Check the park's map location
Ctrip and Qunar list the park near the junction of Shengli Road and Dongsheng Street in Ji'an. Use this as a map-search clue, not as confirmation of the visitor entrance. Enter through the access point open that day.
Arrange a separate vehicle for Wandu
The cultural corridor runs from urban sites to Wandu Mountain City and then back to the ruins park. A government report puts the drive from Ji'an Museum to Wandu at about 10 minutes northbound. Navigate in stages, allow time for walking in the hills, and arrange your return vehicle around the day's route.
Know before you go
Check ticketing and hours for the day
There is no current notice confirming the park's opening hours, ticketing or reservation arrangements. If your visit depends on a particular schedule or free admission, confirm with a local tourism service before travelling.
Treat sports areas and archaeological remains separately
The municipal list includes two standard tennis courts, one basketball court and four fitness plazas. Follow signs for public areas and protected heritage zones, and do not touch or remove stones. Ask ahead if you need an accessible route, restroom or luggage storage.
Plan for the wider heritage area
Goguryeo Ruins Park is one stop on the municipal multi-site route. Other stops include the museum, tombs, stele, mountain city and Guonei City Wall Ruins. Check opening, ticketing and transport arrangements for each stop separately.
