The Green Screen Wall at Prince Xiang's Mansion is at No. 8 Qujing Lane in Xiangcheng District, with the entrance inside the lane. The main reason to visit is the large carved stone wall; Duanli Gate, the halls, and the red walls add the atmosphere of a small courtyard visit. Allow about 30–60 minutes.

The original Green Screen Wall
The wall is made from green slate and carved with “Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl (二龙戏珠)” and dragons in several different forms. It is the main part worth lingering over and a surviving original relic associated with a Ming princely residence. The site suits visitors interested in stone carving, architecture, and the history of Ming princes.
Rebuilt courtyards and red walls
After entering, look first at the rebuilt Duanli Gate and halls, then use the red-walled passage for photos before spending more time at the Green Screen Wall. The rebuilt structures help you read the courtyard layout and provide photo settings; the wall carries most of the site's historical value.
A short stop for traditional-style photography
This small compound works well for visitors interested in historic architecture, stone carving, or traditional-style portraits. If you only want to see the Green Screen Wall, take the short route. The front gives the clearest overall view of the carving, a low side angle shows its relief, and the red walls work for half-length portraits or silhouettes.

Build your day
About 30 minutes: direct route
Enter through the gate, cross the square in front of the main hall, and turn right toward the Green Screen Wall. Look at the Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl relief and the carvings on both sides, then return the way you came. Afterward, continue your old-city walk or return through Green Screen Wall Lane to South Street.
About one hour: complete courtyard route
Entrance → Duanli Gate and rebuilt halls → small courtyard exhibits → red-walled passage → Green Screen Wall. This order lets you understand the courtyard before examining the stone carving up close. If you plan to spend time taking photos, an hour is a safer allowance; leave through the side gate or the original route according to the on-site flow.
Connect it with the old city
Prince Xiang's Mansion makes a separate stop in the southern part of Xiangyang Ancient City and is about a 10-minute walk from North Street and Guanjia Alley (管家巷). After the visit, continue to Zhongxuan Watch Tower or return toward North Street and Linhan Gate. If you also want to explore North Street fully, allow another 1–2 hours.
Get there
Bus and walking approach
Take bus routes 1, 5, 13, 505, 534, or 546 and get off at Shizijie (Guanjia Alley), then walk about 3–5 minutes to Green Screen Wall Lane. A taxi can use “Prince Xiang's Mansion” or “Green Screen Wall” as the destination; walk through the lane to the entrance.
Parking
The site has paid parking, but spaces are limited. Public transport is more practical during holidays, or park outside the old city and walk in. South Street, Green Screen Wall Lane, and the courtyard itself are all mainly explored on foot.
Know before you go
Original relics and rebuilt structures
The Green Screen Wall is the original relic at the heart of the visit; many of the other princely-residence halls are rebuilt. Read the surviving stonework and the reconstructed buildings as different parts of the site. The ticketed experience centres on the wall's carving details and condition.
Timing and photography
Current opening is roughly 08:30–17:30, but leave room for the day's ticketing and closing arrangements. The front, side, and red-wall photo positions are different; keep the passage clear and do not touch or lean against the stone wall or buildings.
Food nearby
Beef-noodle shops and other local food are available near the entrance, so you can eat before or after the visit.
