Plan at a glance

Mingde Gate is the main entrance

Xiangyang Tang City is at Group 4, Shijiamiao Village, Xiangyang Road, in Xiangcheng District, opposite Xijia Pond. The main entrance faces Mingde Gate. Navigate with “Xiangyang Tang City Film and Television Base” or “China Tang City.” The experience centres on film sets, reconstructed buildings, traditional-style photography, and daytime and evening shows; plan it as a film and entertainment site rather than a surviving historic city.

Day, evening, and combined tickets

The daytime ticket is about CNY 90, the evening ticket with a show about CNY 120, and the day-and-evening pass about CNY 128. Confirm the entry period and show rights for each product separately. On ordinary dates, Tuesday–Sunday hours are roughly 08:30–22:00, with last entry at 21:30; Monday hours are roughly 08:30–18:00, with last entry at 17:00. Holidays may change. Some ticket types may require a second reservation through the official mini-program, phone, or online customer service; follow the product instructions after purchase.

Choose your visit

Reconstructed buildings and photo spots

Mingde Gate, the Rosefinch Corridor (朱雀廊), Huyu Tower, Green Dragon Temple (青龙寺), and the Imperial Garden are good first choices. Huyu Tower stands by the water, the Rosefinch Corridor suits symmetrical compositions, and the red walls of Green Dragon Temple and the bridges in the Imperial Garden work for different traditional-style outfits and architecture photos.

Daytime and evening shows

The daytime visit focuses on buildings, market streets, and gardens. The evening visit adds lights, shows, and the atmosphere after illumination. Possible evening times include 19:40, 20:30, 21:10, or 21:40, but the programme and showtimes follow the day's notice and are not guaranteed.

Who it suits

Xiangyang Tang City suits visitors interested in traditional-style clothing, period-style photography, film locations, and large evening shows. If you prefer quiet historic ruins or original old buildings, choose your time here for the reconstructed sets and performance experience.

Build your day

2–3-hour quick route

Enter through Mingde Gate, pass the Rosefinch Corridor and Rosefinch Gate (朱雀门), then take photos at Huyu Tower before returning from the central area to the exit. This route concentrates on the entrance buildings, long corridor, and waterside tower, making it suitable for a half-day stop or one stop within an Xiangcheng itinerary.

4–5-hour highlights route

Mingde Gate → Rosefinch Corridor → East Market/West Market → Huyu Tower → Green Dragon Temple → Imperial Garden, then return to the central area for a show listed on the day's programme. Use East Market or West Market for a break or meal. Huyu Tower and Green Dragon Temple provide different water and red-wall photo settings, while this route adds garden and market time beyond the quick route.

3–4-hour evening route

Enter with an evening ticket after 17:00, eat first at East Market or West Market, then follow the day's programme to Mingde Gate Square, the lakeside area, or the designated show venue. The end time and last-entry time vary by date; use the day's programme for timing.

Get there

Bus and taxi

A taxi from Xiangyang East Railway Station takes about 20 minutes. Bus routes such as 1 and 13 are also options from the city. Navigate to “Xiangyang Tang City Film and Television Base” or the main entrance, aiming for the entrance area in front of Mingde Gate.

Parking

The site has an official parking lot, and nearby hotels may also have parking. For evening visits and holidays, deal with parking early, then walk to Mingde Gate for ticket collection or entry. Allow walking time between the parking area and the entrance instead of treating the car's arrival as the same thing as admission.

Know before you go

Confirm reservation and ID requirements after buying

The reservation process may differ between daytime, evening, and combined tickets. After buying, confirm whether your ticket type needs a second reservation, its validity period, and the on-site ID check. Foreign visitors should confirm in advance whether a passport can be used for purchase, reservation, and entry verification. Monday usually has no evening show, though holidays may be an exception; check the day's notice before an evening visit.

Photography and spending inside the site

Prices and service standards for nearby photographers, costume and makeup services, and food can vary. Read what a low-price package includes before paying. Other paid activities inside the site are not automatically included in the basic ticket; confirm the activity name, price, and whether it belongs to your ticket type.

Set the right expectation

Mingde Gate, the Rosefinch Corridor, Huyu Tower, Green Dragon Temple, and the Imperial Garden are reconstructed or film-set scenes suited to photography and shows. Xiangyang Tang City is not a surviving Tang-era historic city. It is also in a different place from China Han City in Zaoyang, with different themes and programme arrangements.
