Lake, historic sites, and mountain views

Baiquan Scenic Area is in Baiquan Village, Baiquan Town, Huixian. Donghua Gate is the usual entrance. Baiquan Lake, its spring outlets, Weiyuan Temple, the Stele Gallery, and Sumen Mountain are concentrated within an area suited to a relaxed walk. The site is a good fit for visitors who enjoy gardens, waterside scenery, and historic remains.

A half-day visit

Allow about 1.5–2 hours to walk around the lake, see the spring outlets, visit Weiyuan Temple and the Stele Gallery, and climb Sumen Mountain. For a boat ride or a slower look at the steles, plan for 3–4 hours. The reference adult ticket price is about CNY 27. Entry before 07:00 or 07:30 may qualify for free admission; if you want to use the early-entry offer, note the day’s operating time and ticket rules before setting out.

Baiquan Lake and the spring outlets

Baiquan Lake is the scenic area’s main water feature, with spring outlets across the lake. The lakeside path is good for a slow walk, while the lakeside pavilion, stone bridge, and shore viewpoints work well for photography. The scenery around the lake changes with the weather and season.

Weiyuan Temple, the Stele Gallery, and Sumen Mountain

Weiyuan Temple and the Stele Gallery fit naturally into the middle of a lakeside route. Sumen Mountain provides a higher viewpoint over the lake. Visitors interested in historic inscriptions can look for the stele connected with Su Shi’s inscription “Yongjin Pavilion on Sumen Mountain.”

Who it suits

The scenic area suits visitors looking for a quiet lake, classical garden scenery, and a light climb, as well as families planning a half-day walk. If you want to photograph the lakeside pavilion, stone bridge, and full lake view, include the changing light before and after the climb in your timing.

Build your day

A 1.5–2-hour lake-and-mountain route

Enter through Donghua Gate and start at Baiquan Lake, viewing the spring outlets and lake surface. Continue to Weiyuan Temple and the Stele Gallery, then climb Sumen Mountain for a view over the lake. After descending, return along the same route or leave via another path, depending on which exits are open that day.

A relaxed 3–4-hour route

Walk around the lake, take a boat, then continue to Sumen Mountain and the mountaintop Stele Gallery. The reference boat fare is CNY 20–40. Check the operating times and accessible areas at the lakeside pier; if time is limited, walk the lakeside route instead.

A photography sequence

The lakeshore, lakeside pavilion, and stone bridge suit water and garden compositions, while the top of Sumen Mountain is best for a full lake panorama. If the weather begins to worsen, complete the lakeside and historic areas first, then decide whether to climb Sumen Mountain.

Get there

By car

Navigate to “Baiquan Scenic Area.” It takes about 40–70 minutes to drive from central Xinxiang. There is parking near the entrance, with a reference fee of about CNY 5–10 per vehicle. Donghua Gate is the usual entrance.

By public transportation

From Xinxiang Central Bus Station or the railway station, take a bus to Huixian; the reference fare is about CNY 7–20. In Huixian, transfer to a local bus or taxi near the Li Shizhen statue or the large Huixian sign. Leave time for the local transfer.

Know before you go

Tickets and boat rides

Admission, early-morning entry arrangements, boat services, and the open water areas can change with the time of day and management arrangements. Review the entry information for the day of your visit. The lakeside path, Sumen Mountain, and water activities can also be affected by the weather.

Walking and photography

The lakeside path is suitable for a relaxed walk, but climbing Sumen Mountain still involves an uphill section. The lakeside pavilion, stone bridge, spring outlets, and mountaintop viewpoint are the main photography spots; stay within the open areas while taking photos.
