A free museum visit
Pingyuan Museum is at 697 Renmin East Road in Hongqi District, Xinxiang, with the main entrance on the front of the building. Admission is free, but you need to bring your ID. The museum is closed on Mondays and is open 09:00–17:00 Tuesday through Sunday. Reservation and temporary-entry requirements follow the notice for the day.
How much time to allow
For a quick visit, start with the second-floor “Muye Huazhang” general-history exhibition, then continue to the special-exhibition galleries on the third floor. Allow about 1.5–2 hours. For a closer look at the bronze, jade, ceramics, and Buddhist sculpture galleries, plan for 2.5–3 hours. If the 14:30 or 15:30 public guided talk is available, choose a session that fits your visiting pace.

“Muye Huazhang” on the second floor
“Muye Huazhang” is on the second floor and provides an overview of Xinxiang’s history from its early periods through the Ming and Qing dynasties. First-time visitors can complete this floor before moving to the special-exhibition galleries upstairs according to their interests.
Special-exhibition galleries on the third floor
On the third floor, look for galleries on bronze objects, jade, ceramics, and Buddhist sculpture. The Bull-head Jue, jade owl, white-glazed seated Guanyin, and bronze statue of Guan Yu in armor are all worth noting, although the actual display changes with the exhibition schedule.

A 1.5–2-hour quick route
After entering, go first to the second-floor “Muye Huazhang” exhibition to establish an overview of Xinxiang’s history, then continue to the bronze and Buddhist-sculpture galleries on the third floor. If time is limited, prioritize the key objects and core galleries on display that day, then leave through the main entrance.
A detailed 2.5–3-hour route
Start with the general-history exhibition on the second floor, then visit the bronze, ceramics, and Buddhist-sculpture galleries in sections. If you want to attend a public guided talk, plan the galleries before and after the 14:30 or 15:30 session.
Finding the entrance and floors
When walking from the bus stop to the main entrance, allow time to take the overpass route and find the entrance. Movement between floors is mainly on foot. After entering, first look at the day’s open floors and gallery layout, then decide your visiting order.
Get there
By public transportation
Take a city bus to Pingyuan Museum Stop, then walk to the main entrance at 697 Renmin East Road. After getting off, you may need to go around the overpass and look for the entrance on the front of the building.
By car
Navigate to “Pingyuan Museum.” There is a paid parking lot opposite the main entrance, with a reference fee of about CNY 5 per vehicle. Parking is also available across from the south gate of the city government. Enter from the front of the building after parking.
Know before you go
Exhibitions and guided talks
Some Ming- and Qing-dynasty paintings may be temporarily off display for conservation or restoration, and the four highlighted objects may not be displayed at the same time. Public guided-talk times and gallery opening status can change; after arriving, check the day’s notices and display-case information.
Preparing for entry
Admission is free, but you still need your ID, and the museum is closed on Mondays. After the visit, you can walk to the nearby Pingyuan Culture and Arts Center and continue with your city itinerary if time allows.
