Choose your visit

Wulong Gorge

Pools and waterfalls follow the stream through Wulong Gorge, with red rock walls beside green vegetation. It is a good place for a slow canyon walk. In summer, make water play and escaping the heat your focus; after rain or during the wet season, the changing streams and waterfalls are especially worth observing.

Red Rock Cliffs

Red Rock Cliffs show the red-layer landforms common in the southern Taihang Mountains and can be combined with Wulong Gorge. The canyon, cliffs, and stream are close together, so stop at the paths and viewpoints for photography.

Seasonal scenery

Look for wild peach blossoms in spring and red leaves and seasonal village scenery in autumn. Flowering and foliage periods vary by year and weather, so adjust the route to the season’s conditions.

Build your day

A 2–3-hour Wulong Gorge short route

After driving into the scenic area, park near Qiugou Village and walk down to the floor of Wulong Gorge. Follow the streamside path past pools, waterfalls, and Red Rock Cliffs, then return along the same route. This keeps the visit focused on the waterside canyon.

A light one-day hike

Visit Wulong Gorge in the morning, then drive higher into the mountains in the afternoon and choose a light hiking section toward the Ice Cave Group. The Ice Cave Group is better treated as an optional route; after completing Wulong Gorge, decide whether to continue uphill based on the road conditions and your fitness.

Driving and in-scenic-area movement

Vehicles can enter some parts of the scenic area, making it possible to visit different points in sections. You still need to park and walk near the core sights. If there is rain, fog, slippery pavement, or temporary traffic control, adjust the driving and walking route according to the road signs.

Get there

By car

Navigate to “Qiugou Scenic Area” and follow the scenic-area road after buying your ticket. Driving can reduce the amount of connecting walking within the scenic area, but not every section is suitable for vehicles. Once inside, park according to the roadside parking signs.

By public transportation

From Xinxiang Central Bus Station, take a bus to Huixian, transfer to Beizhai, and then take a taxi from Beizhai to the scenic area. The reference taxi fare is about CNY 20. Public transportation requires several transfers, so allow time to return from Qiugou to Beizhai and Huixian.

Know before you go

Road conditions and equipment

The Wulong Gorge route follows the stream. Wear non-slip shoes and bring spare clothes or waterproof items. The Ice Cave Group direction is suitable for a light hiking attempt, but route length and how far you can go are affected by road conditions and the season. If time is limited, complete Wulong Gorge first.

Entry and weather

Admission, the resort vehicle, the areas open to self-driving, and opening times may change with the season, weather, and on-site management. Confirm the entry information on the day of departure. Rain and fog can affect driving on mountain roads and views of Red Rock Cliffs, so safety comes before continuing farther into the area.
