Plan at a glance
Confirm the reopening date first
A closure notice under the name “Bohai Ancient Town” said the 2026 operating season ended on October 7 and the attraction would stop receiving visitors from October 8. The opening date for 2027 would be announced separately. Some Ctrip pages still show it open through the end of October, but the closure notice explicitly says it is not receiving visitors. As of October 14, 2026, treat the attraction as temporarily closed and do not travel there without confirmation. No reopening date has been announced; wait for a new notice before making plans.
A themed district, not an archaeological site
The address is 3999 Hunchun West Street, near the G302 Hunchun–Ulanhot Highway in Hunchun. The park takes Bohai Kingdom history as its theme, with Tang-style architecture, staged streets, food and retail businesses, and live entertainment. What visitors see is a modern tourism project, not ancient city buildings or an archaeological site excavated in its original location. The park was upgraded before May Day 2026; after it reopens, use the new visitor map and check which areas are actually open.
Wait for the new season's prices and hours
Prices, opening hours, reservation arrangements and discounts for the next season have not been announced. Older web pages list CNY 45–78 and opening times of 10:00 or 14:00; these may refer to different ticket types or an earlier season. Do not use them to budget or time your visit before the attraction reopens.

Choose your visit
Tang-style streets and architectural features
The grounds include a themed landscape plaza, a scenic waterway, a covered bridge and wooded areas. The entrance landscape gate, Bohai Avenue, Sheng Tang Watchtower and cultural relief wall can help orient you, but names, access and walking order may change after reopening. Check the new map. The district is suited to a stroll among themed buildings, photos and street scenes.
Live performances and activities
The May Day 2026 program, scheduled for May 1–5, included a parade float, fish lanterns, molten-iron fireworks, a bonfire and music. An autumn tourism promotion also mentioned an outdoor historical drama, but performance dates and ticket rules depend on the reopening announcement. After the park reopens, check that day's schedule and ticket types before deciding whether to stay into the evening.
Boat rides, dining and family activities
The grounds have a scenic waterway, food and shopping. After reopening, check whether boat rides, hanfu rentals and interactive activities are operating, and whether they require separate payment or reservations. Families with children can check the day's open activities and performance times. You do not need an experience bundle just to see the architecture.
Choose your visit length by interest
After reopening, allow about 1–1.5 hours for the streets and main buildings, or 3–4 hours if you plan to stay for evening views, a performance and a meal. These are itinerary estimates; adjust them to the open areas and that day's schedule.
Build your day
Short district walk | allow about 1–1.5 hours
Once the park reopens and the relevant areas are accessible, enter through the main gate. Follow the main street past the entrance buildings, themed lanes, watchtower and relief displays, then return to the exit as directed. The landscape gate, Bohai Avenue, Sheng Tang Watchtower and cultural relief wall can serve as landmarks. The route may change after the upgrade, so follow the new visitor map.
Evening visit | allow about 3–4 hours
If a performance is scheduled that day, explore the streets and displays first, have dinner, then go to the designated viewing area at the time shown on the program. Check separate prices and show times for boat rides, hanfu and interactive activities. Older listings gave times of about 19:30 for an outdoor historical drama and 20:50 for molten-iron fireworks; these do not establish the reopening schedule. Do not use them to infer when to enter or whether transport will still be available afterward.
Plan Hunchun city and Fangchuan separately
Bohai Ancient Town is on the Hunchun city side and can be combined with dining, the riverside park or a stay in town. Fangchuan Scenic Area is in the outlying countryside, and Tumen National Gate is in another city. Put those longer-distance attractions on a separate day. If visiting the ancient town for an evening program, confirm where it ends and arrange your ride back in advance.
Get there
City sightseeing bus from Hunchun Railway Station
A city sightseeing bus from Hunchun Railway Station has previously linked Bohai Ancient Town with Seafood Street, Vostok Amusement Island, Riverside Park and the Siberian Tiger and Leopard Museum. After the attraction reopens, check the seasonal bus notice for stops, operating hours and fares. This city route does not go to remote Fangchuan.
Driving or taking a taxi
Once the park resumes receiving visitors, navigate to “Bohai Ancient Town” or 3999 Hunchun West Street. Check live maps for travel time and drop-off points, and confirm parking arrangements with the park. You can also call 0433-8119999 to ask whether it has reopened.
Know before you go
Check shows and bundles against that day's offer
“Dreaming of the Great Tang,” “A Gathering of Nations,” “The Battle of Tianmenling,” costumed characters, boat rides, hanfu and molten-iron fireworks have appeared in specific events or promotions. They are not necessarily offered every day or included in basic admission. After reopening, check the tickets on sale, the program and on-site notices for your visit date.
Arrange your return after an evening visit
The city sightseeing bus previously published service through 18:30, which would not cover a night program ending around 22:00. If evening events return in the new season, arrange a taxi, ride-hailing car or accommodation in advance; do not assume a bus or high-speed train will be available after the show. Holiday parades and molten-iron performances can draw crowds. Watch from the area designated by staff, stay behind barriers and keep clear of performance routes. Drones are not allowed inside the attraction; follow the park's current rules for photography.
