Plan at a glance

Shared pass and separate entrance

Dragon Palace Cave is inside Chunwan Scenic Area in Chunwan Town, Yangchun. Its entrance is beside the car park, while the Chunwan Stone Forest entrance is across the road, about 15 minutes away on foot. Dragon Palace Cave and Chunwan Stone Forest share one pass: the on-site price is CNY 40, while online channels may list CNY 37. The two entrances are separate, and both attractions require a ticket check.

The area usually opens 08:30–17:30, with last entry possibly stopping around 17:00. Arrive by 15:00 if you want both attractions. Dragon Palace Cave alone takes about 40 minutes to one hour on a roughly 1,000-metre, one-way route with mostly level ground. Allow 3–4 hours for the cave and Stone Forest together.

Cave and Stone Forest roles

Dragon Palace Cave is a short, one-way cave route, while Chunwan Stone Forest contains outdoor formations, steps, and hill viewpoints. The shared pass allows a combined visit, but Dragon Palace Cave is not simply a second gate to the Stone Forest, and its route does not require the Stone Forest climb.

Choose your visit

Cave sections

The route passes through the Welcome Corridor, Dragon King Hall, Treasure Storehouse, and Dragon Mother Pavilion. It includes stalactites, water, and different limestone forms. With mostly level ground, it suits visitors who want a short cave visit, older adults, and travellers looking for a cool stop in hot weather.

The cave can feel narrow when busy, so follow the one-way route. Take photos from open areas, do not stop in corners or narrow passages, and do not touch formations or cross barriers to get closer.

Combining it with Chunwan Stone Forest

For both caves and peaks, visit Dragon Palace Cave first, walk to Chunwan Stone Forest, and spend time at Page Gate and the hill viewpoints. The Stone Forest has steeper steps. Families with young children or visitors who do not want to climb can stay with Dragon Palace Cave and the Stone Forest’s ground-level pavilions.

Build your day

A 40-minute to one-hour cave route

Enter Dragon Palace Cave and follow the one-way path through the Welcome Corridor, Dragon King Hall, Treasure Storehouse, and Dragon Mother Pavilion. Exit back towards the car park or continue to the Stone Forest. Dripping water and wet ground are common, so follow the pace of the group and do not walk against the route.

Arriving around 09:00 helps avoid the busiest periods. If you arrive in the afternoon, check that the cave is still admitting visitors before buying the shared pass; do not begin the full combination near 17:00.

A 3–4 hour cave and Stone Forest route

Visit Dragon Palace Cave in the morning, walk about 15 minutes to the Stone Forest entrance, complete the second ticket check, and then visit Page Gate and the hill viewpoints. Return according to the attraction’s transport arrangements. Keep the shared pass safe; the second entrance still requires a check.

If a companion should not climb, shorten the Stone Forest visit to the ground formations and viewing pavilions. The two attractions have different closing patterns, so leave time for Dragon Palace Cave’s last entry.

Get there

High-speed rail and driving

You can travel to Yangdong Station and continue by local transport, or drive to “Chunwan Scenic Area Stone Forest” or the main car park. Parking is normally free, and the open entrance and car park signs determine where to begin.

Walking between entrances

After parking, decide which side to visit first. Dragon Palace Cave and Chunwan Stone Forest are across the road and about 15 minutes apart on foot. Do not drive onto the walking route or stop temporarily on a narrow road while changing entrances.

Know before you go

Cave equipment and fitness

The cave floor is damp and water may drip from above. Wear sports shoes with good grip and avoid sandals. The Stone Forest has more steps and a higher physical demand; strollers are unsuitable, so decide in advance whether young children will be carried or whether you will stay with the level route.

Take photos according to the site’s instructions. Free photo points and paid photo services are separate. Do not stop the whole group in a narrow passage, and do not treat an extra glass walkway or other add-on as a required part of the visit.

Tickets, food, and return

Dragon Palace Cave and Chunwan Stone Forest share a pass but have different entrances. Keep the ticket and confirm the check-in points. Food inside is limited, so carry water and a simple snack, then eat in Chunwan Town or central Yangchun after the visit.

If you drive on to Lingxiao Rock or Yuxi Three Caves, remember that those attractions have independent tickets, last-entry times, and parking rules. The Chunwan pass does not carry over.
