A free local-history museum
Luoding Museum is at 1 Wenbo Street in Luocheng Subdistrict, Luoding, on the east side of the municipal square. Admission is free and no reservation is required. Summer hours are 08:00–12:00 and 14:30–18:00; winter hours are 08:00–12:00 and 14:00–17:30.
On Mondays, only the first-floor intangible-culture gallery is open; other galleries close for maintenance except on public holidays. Allow about 1.5–2 hours for a full visit or roughly 40 minutes for a quick exhibition and stamp stop. Do not plan a complete museum visit on Monday.
A city stop to pair with old landmarks
The retired J-6 fighter aircraft outside, the Nanjiang history exhibition, the Cai Tingkai exhibition and the stamp station are the main reasons to stop. The museum suits history and local-culture visitors, families, military enthusiasts and people exploring Luoding on foot.
Luoding Wenta Tower, Luoding Confucian Temple (Luoding Academy) and the riverside park can be combined with the museum. Always use the full name “Luoding Museum” to distinguish it from Yunfu Museum in the city centre.

Nanjiang history and military displays
See the retired J-6 fighter aircraft outside before entering. The second-floor “Millennium City, Nanjiang Metropolis” exhibition covers Han-period pottery, bronze drums and the history of Luoding, formerly known as Longzhou. The Cai Tingkai exhibition adds a modern wartime-history section; gallery availability depends on the day.
The entrance area has museum, exhibition and landmark stamps, which may include Changgangpo Aqueduct and Wenta Tower. Stamp collectors should bring a book or blank cards because the paper supplied on site may not be enough.
Who it suits
Families can start with the aircraft and then choose the intangible-culture or history galleries according to the children’s interest. Visitors who want a quieter experience should come on a weekday or in the morning; at weekends, before 10:00 or after 15:00 is usually easier.
The museum is not large, so focus on Luoding’s local history and intangible culture rather than expecting the scale of a provincial museum. Do not touch exhibits, use flash or speak loudly inside.
Build your day
About 40 minutes: quick visit
Retired J-6 fighter aircraft → stamp station near the first-floor entrance → first-floor intangible-culture gallery → second-floor history exhibition → exit. On a Monday, plan only the first-floor gallery and do not count the other floors in your route.
Handle the stamps soon after entering, before the paper or station location becomes an issue. The aircraft is easy to photograph before entering, and you can return to the square after the visit if you want another angle.
1.5–2 hours: museum and city landmarks
Luoding Museum → Luoding Confucian Temple (Luoding Academy) → Luoding Wenta Tower → city meal. Because the museum and academy have different midday schedules, it is usually easier to finish the museum in the morning and visit the academy in its afternoon opening.
Wenta Park works well in the late afternoon. If you want to climb the tower, follow the tower’s own opening hours. The four stops are suitable for short walks, a shared e-bike or taxis, but collecting stamps and taking photographs will extend the visit.
About four hours: city heritage half-day
Wenta Park → Luoding Confucian Temple (Luoding Academy) → Luoding Museum → riverside park for sunset → Yingbin Road night market. This route mixes outdoor areas, a park and an indoor museum, so move the museum earlier if the weather deteriorates.
If you start in the afternoon, check the museum’s last-entry time before choosing to climb Wenta Tower first. Do not leave the museum until the last few minutes before closing just to reach the night market.

Driving and walking
Navigate to “Luoding Museum”. Parking around the municipal square is listed as plentiful and free. The museum is close to central Luoding, so you can park once and continue to the academy, Wenta Tower and the riverside park on foot or by shared e-bike.
From Wenta Tower or the academy, a taxi takes about ten minutes. You can also walk along the riverside greenway when the weather and your energy allow; there is no need to keep moving the car between the city stops.
Public transport
Luoding city buses and taxis can reach the museum, but no single fixed bus route is specified here. Use “Luoding Museum, east side of the municipal square” as the location point and follow the local signs on arrival.
The museum can serve as the city section before a drive to Fengyang Ancient Village, Changgangpo Aqueduct or Luoding Wind Farm Ridge. Do not assume the city-bus network continues directly to these outlying mountain and village destinations.

Monday and seasonal hours
On Mondays, only the first-floor intangible-culture gallery is open; the other galleries are closed for maintenance except on public holidays. Visitors who want the aircraft, Nanjiang history exhibition and special exhibition should avoid Monday or plan a short stop.
The museum also closes at midday: 12:00–14:30 in summer and 12:00–14:00 in winter. The afternoon closing time changes by season, so do not plan only by the phrase “open until evening”.
Stamps and conduct
There are many stamps but limited paper, so bring a stamp book or blank card. Do not touch exhibits and turn off flash photography; temporary exhibitions, volunteers and questionnaire materials follow the on-site arrangement.
Parking at the museum and municipal square is convenient, and the city sights are close together. Luoding rice noodles, crispy fish tofu, fermented-bean chicken, salted mugwort cakes and beef-offal hot pot are easier to find in town than inside the museum.
