Luoding Wenta Tower is on Wenta Road in Luocheng Subdistrict, on the north bank of the Longjiang River inside Wenta Park. Wenta Park is open 24 hours. Tower entry is listed at 08:30–22:00 Monday–Friday and 08:30–23:00 on weekends and public holidays. Admission is free and no reservation is required.
The tower is about 47 metres high, with seven exterior levels and thirteen internal levels. The stairs are steep. Allow about one hour for a short visit or about 2.5 hours if you add Luoding Confucian Temple (Luoding Academy) and the old winery.
Climb in daylight, see the river at dusk
The tower, Longjiang River, Wenta Bridge and Riverside Park form the main viewing area. The “East Bridge Tower Reflection” is best seen from the bridge or riverfront around sunset. The lit exterior can be viewed at night, but an all-day park opening does not mean that the tower can be climbed at any time.
Older visitors and young children can focus on the square below, the old banyan tree and the riverside paths. Anyone climbing should wear shoes with good grip and treat the narrow stairs as a real climb.

The historic tower and river views
The San Yuan Pagoda was founded in the 39th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming dynasty. It has seven exterior levels and thirteen internal levels; its iron finial, including the main pillar and related fittings, is listed at more than seven tonnes. The climb gives views over the Longjiang River and Luoding, but the stairs are narrow and safety comes first.
Wenta Bridge is the best place to frame the tower with the river and its reflection. The square below works for a full upward view, while the Riverside Park footbridge can include the old tower, the modern skyline and the river. The lit exterior and tower entry should be treated as two separate plans.
Who it suits
The tower suits visitors interested in local history, traditional architecture, family outings and a weekend city walk. Visitors who prefer an easy route can stay in the park and along the river; those who want a higher view can add the stairs.
The late afternoon after 17:00 is useful for sunset and evening views but is also busier. Weekdays are quieter and better for a less crowded photograph.
Build your day
About one hour: tower short route
Wenta Square for an upward view → climb the tower for the river view → walk to Wenta Bridge for the reflection → riverside walk. Confirm that tower entry is operating before beginning the climb, then leave time for the descent.
Do not stop in the stair turns to take photographs. With older visitors or young children, skip the climb and use the square and riverfront instead. Arrive at Wenta Bridge about one hour before sunset for softer light.
About 2.5 hours: tower and old-city landmarks
Spend about one hour climbing and photographing Wenta Tower, then walk about ten minutes to Luoding Confucian Temple (Luoding Academy) and continue to the old winery for a break. The academy closes from 11:30–14:30, so use the winery or move the tower to the afternoon if the timing overlaps.
This route works on foot or by shared e-bike. The winery, academy and tower are close, but the climb, indoor visit and photography take longer than the walking distances suggest.
About four hours: city heritage half-day
Wenta Park → Luoding Confucian Temple (Luoding Academy) → Luoding Museum → Riverside Park for sunset → Yingbin Road night market. The museum has a midday closure and Monday restrictions, so check whether it should sit in the middle of the route that day.
If the main goal is the night view, climb the tower earlier and return to Riverside Park for the exterior scene. Even after the lights come on, follow the listed tower-entry hours rather than assuming that the lit tower is open inside.
Get there
Driving and buses
Navigate to “Luoding Wenta Tower”. Free outdoor parking is available around the tower. Bus 1 stops at Riverside Park Station, from where you can walk to the tower; taxis and shared e-bikes are also practical within the city.
Wenta Park, the academy and the old winery are close, so you can park once and walk between them. During holidays, use an available public parking area and walk along the river instead of circling repeatedly near the tower.
Walk from the academy
From Luoding Confucian Temple (Luoding Academy) or the old winery, follow the old street for about 10–15 minutes to the river and tower. Mosquitoes are common by the river at dusk, so bring repellent and water.
From Fengyang Ancient Village, the listed drive is about 15 minutes. The village and tower can fit into one driving route, but Luoding Wind Farm Ridge is a separate mountain destination rather than a walking extension.

Climbing safely
The stairs are steep and narrow. Do not crowd other visitors or stop in a stair turn for photographs. Older visitors, young children and people with knee problems can stay at the square and riverfront.
The park is open 24 hours, but tower entry follows the weekday, weekend and holiday hours. Night lighting is an exterior view; it does not override the tower’s entry hours.
Mosquitoes and photography time
Mosquitoes are common around the river and park in the evening, so apply repellent before walking. The old banyan tree below the tower, Wenta Bridge and the Riverside Park footbridge give different angles, but shoes with good grip remain more useful than pure photo footwear.
Wenta Tower is free and does not require a reservation, but you still need time for the climb and descent. Luoding rice noodles, crispy fish tofu, fermented-bean chicken and Yingbin Road night market are all available in the nearby city area.
